Been seeing a lot of cool builds online and wanted to pitch in on one of my current SCX24 builds. I started off with a bone stock scx24 left it pretty much stock just put a better servo on it. I sold that one to a buddy that comes over and races with us. Then I built myself a new one using the shark chassis, then built another using the Miller Motorsports chassis, and now I built another shark and I’m by far the most stoked with how this one came out. Learned what worked and what didn’t with the other cars and this one works absolutely flawless. We usually have 10-15 scx24s racing on Friday nights in my backyard track but with corona everything has been put on hold but I can’t wait to get back to bashing with my buddies and take home the pot of gold at the end of the night with this guy.
Here’s some pictures of the build I’ll post some specs later if you guys have questions. i’m trying to decide if I want to build some of these to sell... well see! Thanks for checking it out!

That’s cool. So y’all racing micro U4? Pics of course? Considered a Barrage for drivetrain donor since it’s a lot faster?

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your build(s). It would be really cool seeing a bunch of Micro Sharks running around together.

Welcome to the site!

Great looking build. Very cool looking rig.

Here’s some older pictures back when we only had 5 or 6 cars the last race before rona was the biggest but I dropped the ball and didn’t get any pictures. Since then we’ve fully rebuilt the course, a lap used to about 45 seconds now it’s about a minute and a half. Not all the cars that come race are fully built like some of ours so we have a “stock bypass” line past one of the gnarly sections of you have a stock width car which was a big complaint on the last course that the wide cars had an unfair advantage so we helped even that put with the new layout.

Here’s some random pictures I have from our crawl / race nights back when we started.

And here’s a couple shots of 2 of the sections on the new layout in progress. Once it’s dialed I’ll put up all the track edging so there’s no cheating 😁. Nothing is fully finished yet and it’s hard to get good pictures of it all but it’s Loretta legit if I must say so myself.. I just brought another truck bed full of rocks back with me from Vegas to add to the course. If I had to guess we have 2 or 2.5 truck beds full of rocks on the course inside a 20’ circle to give you guys some perspective.

One more picture I found when we decided it was time to revamp the course, year out what we had and start over a few weeks back.

I havent yet put the barrage motor in anything yet i've tried a few different motors, none seem to be as good as the stock one though, either lack torque or top speed. My brother has some losi 1/24 short course truck motor in his car right now and its fast and has plenty of torque, but it'll only go about 6 laps before it overheats and shuts off.

Still looking to source a good 130 motor (brushed or brushless). My only concern is that the 130 motor plate that rex has on shapways is pushed over the side of the frame rail just a little and im not sure it will work with the shark chassis. Has anyone tried that or know if it would work??

Of course thanks for the cool parts to build with! My brother just ordered 3 more shark chassis. 1 for himself and 2 to sell at the races :lmao: i think between our little clan of micro racers we've ordered 7 shark chassis and a few of every other part you've made for each chassis. I hope you get a cut of whatever they sell of yours! The only parts of yours that we've broken were caused by cars falling off the work bench which is pretty understandable :lmao:

I know you said the chassis aren't recommended for racing but it's hard to follow that rule when they look just like a racecar!!!

I meant the entire drivetrain. The axles are not worm gear and overall it’s faster. More durable? Don’t know in how y’all use them.

If you’re looking for a faster motor though. Heck out some of the brushless tail rotor motors for the 380 sized heli.

Pnracing makes a really good 130 can. It’s been used for years in the losi micro. I had to completely modify the shark chassis to get my 130 in and I purchased gamyrc’s fatgirl motor plate. I’m sure you could do it another way but this is what I did for mine.

The battery now sits behind the transmission on a plate I fabricated.

Gamy rc also makes a motor plate that sits on the side of the transmission just like stock but you can only run larger pinions. I believe the smallest you can go is 25t which makes the scx24 a rocket.

You could possibly use the plate I’m using if you flip the transmission and remove the interior of the microshark but that may interfere with the esc tray.

Yeah you guys definitely have the highest concentration of Sharks I think. :) The shop owners set their own markups, but it's hard to mark them up much since the service is already expensive. They are strong overall, but certain points won't take a big hit. You have to scale the fall too. A 1.5' drop is the same as a 3' drop with a 1/10 scale.

It's more managing expectations than anything. Also, they were intended to be W.E.Rock buggies, not U4 buggies. I'm just glad you guys are having fun with them and they are holding up well.

I like that setup and i dont run te interior so that isnt a worry of mine but id like to keep the battery tray in the shark chassis in its same spot cause the weight up front and low like that makes it work killer. I saw that motor but was curious about the battery consumption? Do they drain a lot of extra battery over the stock motor? I'll just order all of the 130 motor plates and see which one works the best for this setup:mrgreen:

I also ordered a couple 050 motors last night so ill let you guys know how they work.

Whats "Speed Company"? Do they make parts for these?

Not yet anyway but we can if you want us to :ror: Its starting as an motorsports based apparel company i started with a couple buddies but it will evolve. Speed Co can sell full micro builds if anyones interested.
