U4RC Rock Racing Series info and update thread.

Here is a pic of the transponders we will be using at the races. I'm not sure if DP will work. I will try and do a little research and post up before race day....

That looks just like the house sets I have used my DP with before. Unless the coded signal coming out is different, the DP should work. Thank you. If the batteries ever die, they aren't too hard to replace.

how do the transponders get power? being a noobe to racing, will it need to plug into a rx port? if so, what if all spare channels are spoken for?

The house transponders have rechargeable batteries in them. Personal transponders will need power from the receiver.

With only 2 weeks until the U4RC Glen Helen Rock Racing Finals we want to thank all of the competitors and sponsors that have made our inaugural series a huge success, and have made U4RC Rock Racing the newest, most exciting form of scale R/C racing on the planet. 8)

In an effort to offer drivers more time on the track, and less waiting to race, we have invested in the timing system Jerry talked about above. Here are some more details about the transponders themselves and what the drivers should expect.

First and foremost, is Driver Registration and Data Entry:

Since this is our first time using the timing system, we have to input every driver for every class. This is likely to be very time consuming so we are going to offer a discount on entry fees for preregistration in this thread. By preregistering we will have all of the data entered, for all of preregistered rigs, before we get to the track. PREREGISTRATION IS VERY IMPORTANT With that in mind PLEASE try to show up to the track as early as possible on Oct. 5th. Remember we have to mount the transponders. "thumbsup"

As an example; If we have to spend 10 minutes per driver, entering their info, and making sure their transponder mounting spots are established, with 50 entries, that would be 8 hours  Obviously, we can't have that on race day.

Race Format:

Races will run in heats. The number of heats, and how many heats, each driver will run, will depend on the number of drivers entered, and how fast we can get registration over and racing started. Drivers should expect a minimum of 5 minute heat races , and likely a 10 minute main.

Staging / Turn Marshaling:

Drivers will be expected to turn marshal. Try to do your turn marshaling during the race BEFORE your race. This will allow us to get your transponder mounted, and have your rig all set and ready to go for your race. We will have a designated staging area where the transponders will be mounted and returned. It is also VERY IMPORTANT that each driver PLEASE return their transponder immediately after the race BEFORE returning to the pits.

Transponder info:

Each car will need to find a spot to mount the transponder in an area BEHIND the front axle. Typically, this will be under the hood, or under the roof. This will require a hole as the transponder mounts through the hole and is held in place with a body clip. There will need to be a little over a cubic inch of free space, clear of suspension movement, to mount the transponder. It will be up to the driver to provide a secure, easily accessible mounting point for the transponder. We will be happy to help drivers get this figured out during tech. 8)

Entry Info:

As we said above discounted entry is offered for preregistration in this thread.

Preregister

First Class $12
2 Classes $20
3 Classes $28
4 Classes $36

Day of Race + $1 per class.

First class $13
2 Classes $21
3 Classes $29
4 Classes $37

And remember, the ONLY way to have a shot at what is now over $1700 in prizes thanks to our sponsors Axial Racing, Pitbull Tires, Blue Monkey R/C, Krawler Koncepts, and Undertaker Custom Paint, is with a class entry. Each class entry gets the driver a shot at the prizes. 3 classes = 3 tickets. "thumbsup"

Can we get a picture of a mounted transponder so we can know what to expect? I don't want to be the one holding up the show.
