Up and Move to different area of the country...

Me and the wife have discussed this very subject many times. For whatever reason we want to move to Washington state. No idea why, other than North Carolina summers suck a$$. I was able to go to Washington a few times while driving OTR, and I know it is a very nice looking state, but other than that, don't know much about it. I just can't bring myself to pack us all up and make that kind of move not knowing what would happen.

Washington State has great weather in some area's. I live in Kennewick, WA we have warm/hot summers, Cold winters with little to no snow.

That's what I'm talking about, something like that with plentiful job oppurtunites. Though I'm not sure if I could sway my wife into moving to the west coast.

Our Housing market has stayed strong in this area. I do low voltage wiring and we our doing so many house's that we grew from 3 employee's to 7 just this year. One of our new builders we picked up builds 290 house a year!

Wow, that's awesome. Glad to see things are picking up around the country.

Anyone know how to hypnotize or convince someone with subliminal messages? HAHA

She's been talking here recently about relocating to the town where I work. I personally don't want to, house prices are about 60k higher on a 3 bedroom than where we're at currently. Overall, it's on the back burner for now.

Aye. Hear ya. I'm sure we could find a house up in Weston, which'd put me within bicycle riding distance (probably still hafta drive in the winter). But it wouldn't save us enough gas to pay for the 50% bump up in home prices. Thanks, I'll drive my 19.5 miles each way.

I'm with you on the 'move once and done' thing. I'm in my mid-40s and this is the eighth house I've lived in. Gets tiring. Only way I could see a local move would be if our mortgage actually went away, (think 'inherited house'), so we could save up some money to bounce on outta here. No way I'd pay more than we are now, just to be leaving the area down the road.

Guess it's on the back burner here, too. But now that the bug is planted, maybe she can make up a plan for how to get us there. (wherever 'there' happens to be)

Tell her to imagine a new House depending on how much house and how much land you want from $160,000 to $400,000

You can get a nice 1 acre land home package for around $200,000 with a 2000 sqft home easy around here.

Plus there is a river for playing and fishing, Mountains are about a 2 hour drive away, ocean beaches are about 4 hours away.

Give her food for thought.

My wife and I moved to AZ right out of college and lived there for a few years until the economy tanked. We moved to Maine (my home state) to "reset" our lives/finances. We are moving back to AZ this fall. I can't wait. I won't live another winter stuck inside the house. Moving isn't that bad. Towing my 4runner 3000 miles back to AZ is the worst part of the actual move.
