V8's 1974 K5 Blazer Build

Re: Sneak peek 1974 blazer gone wild

Very interesting trans! I can't see the tooth count, can you throw us a ratio on it? I'm guessing there isn't a ton of reduction but hoping at least 15:1.

no.........not a ton of reduction
as it's meant to be a 1:1 replacement for a NITRO motor

I'll through up some pic's tomorrow
But the Three Gears in the trans (32P) are as fallows:
Top gear 25
Middle gear 17
Drive gear 27

Giving you a 1.6:1 ratio at the output shaft
but reduction will depend on the size of the pinion used

A 19T pinion puts it at 2.25:1
A 12T pinion puts it at 3.25:1
A 9T pinion puts it at 4.5:1

SCX10 Trans has a 2.6:1 (without spur gear)
With A 87T spur and a 22T pinion puts it at 11.25:1

Re: Sneak peek 1974 blazer gone wild

This build is pretty awesome.
I like the look of that transmission, any experience with them?

Re: Sneak peek 1974 blazer gone wild

I'm LOVING the tube work on this thing. That is just sick.....I would think the removable top (which is awesome) would put a little too much weight up top...but maybe not?

I do love this thing though....very nice work.

I think the "Full" removable top is for looks
In it's place,,,,,,,,,,The bolt on Roll Cage will work great for comps ;-)

I cant take any credit for this chassis
"MATTZILLA" does awesome work in creating your vision
Worth every penny spent "thumbsup"

Re: Sneak peek 1974 blazer gone wild

i feel stupid for missing this Rick. love all the parts coming together, and that tranny looks like a really one from the underneath with the transmission coming off it. pretty slick.

This is going to be a sick rig. Really interested in that trans. I have looked at it quite a few times but never thought of using it in a scaler.

Re: Sneak peek 1974 blazer gone wild

Very nice Rick!

Can't wait to try out that trans, with the 9T pinion coupled to a Axial trans, used as a t-case, I should get 11.7:1 ratio.
