ive seen the venom creeper crawler green kit online for cheap and was wanting to know if they are good comp rock crawlers. i know that they offer a remote diff locking kit and a dig unit kit for the creeper, do they offer stock replacment parts for the truck i already have a traxxas link 2.4ghz system, a novak 55t, hs-625mg servo, and a sidewinder sv2 ready to be put in a good comp truck, what stock parts frequently break or more prone to breakage and were can i get hop-ups for it. im a newbie crawler and want a cheap crawler, i had the hpi crawler king but i dont like it a hole lot and im starting to like the looks of the venom creeper.

well we are slightly biased lol but, i love my creeper. i was in the same boat as you looking for a good crawler but not break the budget. overall the creeper has far surpassed my expectations all around. a few simple mods made it very capable. i did not bother with remote diff locks, i jb welded the diff, this keeps it locked, i changed the links a little simalar to the ckrc stage 2 setup, also read the stickies at the top of the page rmdw's thread has a ton of good info on set up. weak links...well so far i have only bent one axle and lost a shock cap a few times. i have also added rmdw's rear link plate to help reduce torque twist.
good luck and hope you have fun!

Two words. . . . SEARCH BUTTON. . . . . After that. . . . READ. . . . Then READ. . . . Then for a change of pace. . . . READ some more. there have been a lot of threads started on this and its kind of pointless to go to the venom forums and ask all the people who own them if they like it or not.

So in review. . . . Search .. .then read. . . . Then I want you to read two particular threads. . . ..first read "on the creeper wagon" then read it again. . . Then go read "rmdw's T's & T's" then read it again. . . . And that will answer your question

X2 on that chappy, its not that we are being mean but we get asked this question alot and sometimes its as simple as using the search buttom and just using commen sence.

The creeper is a good rig. It just needs alittle work out of the box as any crawler needs. I feel that the tranny and the selectable diffs are junk. I jb welded my diffs a long time ago. Im also running a axial trans. Also the stock drive shafts are junk. As soon as you sort the bugs out its a awsome rig. As i took second with my creeper at the 4th annaul arizona shootout in the sportsman class. I was the only creeper there and got lots of looks at it. Like the others said, read and read some more and please use the search button. There's a wealth of info in the stickies and in peeps build threads.

WOW! Another forum where they rip newbies for asking questions. Maybe the guy wanted to know recent opinions of the VC. If someone asks a question that to you is annoying don't answer it and for heaven's sake don't let your temper get the best of you.

YES THE CREEPER IS A "VERY GOOD" PLATFORM TO BASE A CRAWLER ON, AND IT IS ALSO THE BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK HANDS DOWN OF ANY KIT AVAILABLE "thumbsup".SEARCH THREADS BY RMDW, AND MYSELF AND THOSE WHO POSTED ABOVE. THE CREEPER IS FOR A HANDS ON HOBBYIST NOT A BOLT ON ONE.8)

Creepers are real nice crawlers. I rebuilt my old one one and gave it to my dad. I added a UGC D-mount for the rear upper links, as I had one laying around and added a set of Panther Cougars. Ground clearance was 2 1/2" and the darn thing beat my AX10 comp crawler. Sad thing is I only changed the shocks, wheel, tires and add the d-mount to the Creeper and the AX10 was built from ground up to compete.

The Venom is no different from any other box stock rig. There are parts that need to be changed during the initial build to make it comp worthy but it is very stable for a basher rig right out of the box.

My sticky at the top has a ton of info in it on what parts need to be changed.

My build thread has 3 or 4 tons of info in it about testing and set up and the mods Ive made to mine...Ive run 2.2Pro and currently run 2.2 Sportsman as often as I can in competition. The Creeper is a viable comp rig if modified correctly.

Reading is fundamental in this hobby. There are hundreds of threads covering every topic you can think of....especially "How good is it?"

Tires...chassis'...driveshafts...and everything else. The search button will tell you everything you need to know...and if you have trouble with search terms then try reading a thread or at the very least try skimming it.

The biggest thing about the Creeper is this....you will either love it..or you will hate its plastic and metal guts with a passion.

This is something that has always bothered me...not just the NEWBIES get ripped for asking questions that have already been asked...if you dont take the time to read something that has already been answered then why should someone else take the time to tell you? Ive seen guys with hundreds of posts ask what kind of tires are those 4 pages into a thread that has the brand and size/type of tires listed in the first post...and these guys get thier butts handed to them. This isnt a bash the newbie for being a newbie thing...its a respect thing...people take a lot of time to type out text and download pics and give people the answers they need without having to ask...then someone comes along and asks a question that all of the info and pics answers. Its a slap in the face really...but why is it that people assume that a newbie question is something other than what it is...a newbie question. No one wants to be the newbie in anything...and some people avoid this by doing a ton of research and then asking the question that hasnt been answered...other people come online and browse the first page of the forum and ask what they dont see....its ususally a page or two back but its there. If someone wants to really ask the oldest of NEWBIE questions ie: How good is it? then find the last newbie posted thread that asks the same question and like you assume was his angle, ask this, " Has anyone's opinion/s changed about thier Creeper?" I always wind up defending myself when I ask or tell some new guy to read the forum or do a search because some other newbie wants to rush in to his rescue and tell how Newbies are always bashed...and its usually someone who just joined and has little or no experience with the way these forums run....just saying. Now before you or anyone else get all offended by my statement/s...consider this...I have countless hours some into the midnight hours typing out info for people to read so they can make thier Creeper better...have you read the entire sticky I wrote at the top of the main page?...have you read my entire thread-on the creeper wagon? if not then do...and while you do keep track of how much time it takes to compile an understanding of what I have wrote and posted in both threads...then read chappy's...then read viper's, creeperbob's, lazynocturnal's, venomcrawlerdud's, charlieIII's and a few other's. As long as it takes you to read these threads completely is only half the time it took us to write them and edit them and make them available to you...

Ok 1 post count, he is asking if the vc is a good Crawler in the venom forums. . . Where last time I checked. . . Everyone likes their venom, so like I said its a little pointless cause the only answer your going to get is "yes I like it" or "it is great with slight mods". If he wanted true general opinions he should have posted this in "general crawlers"
Btw. . . Who said anythin about tempers? If I was pissed I would be calling him an a$$hole or dumbs*$ . So before you accuse me of being short tempered then you better have your facts straight. Its just like vcdud said. . . We are not trying to be mean, but when you see the same thread over and over which is taking up the bandwidth I PAY FOR then it does get annoying. So yes im going to answer a question that annoys me so that he will learn and hopefully be able to advise others in the future.

thank you remmuh, like i said i am a newbie and i did not know that there was a search button and i do agree with you about newbies getting ripped because they ask something that has been ask a while ago. so far ive seen people do not like the stock axles on the creeper because they keep breaking, but of course those people were running an insane amout of weight in their wheels(like somewere around a pound or so) probly is what caused their prodlems. i go to the boulder house every tuesday night when i can, unfortunatly i was not able to go tonight to ask them if they are good trucks to run on his course.

well said thomas. . .

just to let you know mini freak . . . . i am in no way trying to bash you. i understand what its like to be the new guy (i was one once too) and if i was taken that way then i apologize . . . . (what i said in my first post on this thread is what i say to most all the new guys who come in here) i did not intend it to be a bash . . . just a helpful suggestion. im not quite as good with words as thomas, i just say what comes to mind ya know? so that being said, i still recommend the pre-stated suggestions, and opinions, and i hope nothing sways you from asking more questions that you may not find in the search. im guilty of that as well . . . . there have been many instances where i have searched for literally HOURS . . . . and then i made a post in my build thread stating such and asking for a link and within usually 1/2 hour to an hour i get a response with a link . . . . then i find that i was just using the wrong key words. the search can be a fickle tool . . . . but it is a useful tool non-the-less.

so like i said, i did not intend it to be an attack against you and if it was taken as such then i apologize for that.

and if i may make one more suggestion . . . if you decide to go with the creeper, i would suggest making a build thread and post any searched out questions there. it saves bandwidth (as stated is a pet-peeve of mine) and it help organize our beloved forums.

i hope this helps and i hope we are on the same page about this issue

OK now we are getting into some contrary info...these axles you speak of are the axle shafts...the stock ones were previous to now, bad at best and prone to breakage if you even thought of crawling. Venom has evidently made a change to thier processes and are providing better quality axle shafts..known as VCD's from Venom and CVD's from just about any other vendor. The breakage you mention has usually been caused by having the tire all bound up and the axle shaft break under extreme pressure. Other's like myself are running extreme steering angles at or around 50-52 degrees...this angle puts an insane amount of pressure on the shafts. It also has to do with wheel weight but as much you might think...I run 12.75oz per front wheel/weight/tire combo.

As far as whether or not a Creeper will do good at one location or another? THat depends on how well YOU build it...my rig and other people's rig do well pretty much anywhere because our Creepers are built to perform. It really doesnt have anything to do with the location...I mean some locations are better than others when it comes to certain set ups but thats what learning your rig and your own driving abilities is all about. If you do some or most of the mods I recommend in my build thread and my sticky T&T thread youll have a Creeper that will perfrom with the best of them...then you have to learn how to make it do what its capable of doing.

rmdw has alot of good advice. what he just said here is right. my creeper works great everywhere ive been. from granite in arizona, lava rock on the oregon coast, shelf rock, concrete to smooth river rock. it just plain kicks ass when it is tuned corectly. theres nothing better than when i hand a person my remote and they crawl, then say my rig crawls with no effort. i then say to them that alot of time, research and tweaking has gotten this rig to where it is. even people have watched me crawl and say that i make it look easy. i also have been in the crawling seen for almost 2 years now and i still have alot to learn. but i also started comping about 7 months ago.

but anyways man, some of us may come off as pricks in the begining, we just ask that you use the search option or even look on the first 3 pages of threads. more than likely someone has asked the question. anyways im done with my ramblings. ive only gotten 2.5 hours of sleep last night and my bed is calling my name.

its ok man you dont have to apologize, and i understand where you are coming from about newbie asking the same question (the same thing happened to me on traxxas, newbies kept asking questions all the time and did not bother useing the search button) anyway the venom creeper looks and sounds like a better crawler than my crawler king, going to try to find mods for the creeper to make this truck a little bit better( if i really decide to get it) by the way, is the venom creeper better than the hpi crawler king (both stock)

Is it good

Well i just finished my first one, I'd have to say as kits go it was alot of fun to build and the instructions were pretty good. You want to inventory it before you build as many times the bags can be mislabeled. Go slow and read ahead. The diff lock is sort of like a circus and i would suggest perm locking it with jb weld or using a nylon washer. I acutally stuck 3 screws in mine with some lock tite and then cut the heads off and so far so good. They have upgraded the cv pins so they dont fall out now. The creeper is an awsome start point for making a crawler, just be advised that owning a crawler usually means u work on it all the time trying to impove something about it. Read the forum as it helped me quite a bit. ALso look at http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=317140'
Best pictures ever.

i would have to say yes . . . . but im not sure as i have never played with a crawler king

could the venom creeper compete with a axial, and what are the best mods for the creeper to compete with a pro comp axial ax10 or pro comp xr10
