WARNING: Tower is using Fedex Smartpost now

You misunderstand. The average person doesnt do research on what part they need, they go in to the shop and either show them what broke, or tell them what it is they want to do. When I went in and told them I wanted to convert my slash 2wd to 32p without a gear cover, two separate times they gave me a spur that doesnt fit. Also when I went in to get a nice quality steering servo for rock crawling, they sold me a 75$ racing water proof savox servo. After that I stopped trusting them for any information, and every single time since then I go in asking for said part I did research on and "theyve never heard of it, we dont carry it". I point out that not only does the online store say they have it at THAT store, but its also currently in stock. Every time it ends up being there too.

Either way the whole research before you buy its your fault etc etc etc argument is just bad business. You can say that about hobby stores, but if I did the same thing at a home depot they will give me my money back and actually find the proper part for it. People need to stop giving hobby shops a pass for this BS just because its a small business. Smaller businesses should be MORE ON POINT than big corporations if they are to provide any sort of tangible value.

On the topic of research, you do realize the internet and hobby store websites are full of incorrect information right? Look up servos on different vendors and a lot of them have different numbers or absolutely dont list them anyway.

if you cant do research to find servo specs, you might be doing it wrong.

not researching period is pure laziness.

no racing servo is waterproof. especially that savox sero. its got around I dunno.. 270 oz of torque. and at a slower speed than the 1258..

research. learn. repeat. its like school. but for something you love.

try and walk into a speed shop and return a holley 850 you ran a few times on your 305.

once the package is opened, part installed/ charged or have current go to it if it applies... no hobby shop should accept a return. that is bad business. how would you feel if you got a already opened servo that you paid full price for then found out it was used? I didnt misunderstand. ive been there done that. been in the hobby for quite some time.

Meh. To each their own. the savox I mentioned, a 1211sg, turns at .08 which to me is racing speeds. I have it in my slash now. Either way, if you think everyone is going to do extensive research you are just flat out wrong. Its meant to be a fun hobby not a second job. When I want my AC to work better I go to an hvac shop, when I want my car to work better I go to an auto shop. If you claim to be an expert in a field enough to BUILD A BUSINESS around it, I expect you to know what the hell youre talking about.

In a town near me there's a motorsport shop that sells motorcycles, quads, side by sides and Traxxas, oh and lawnmowers too. Its a bit odd but makes sense.

This is the off topic thread right?

I have done it the lazy mans way a couple times on servo's, I ask the owner of the Hobby shop I go to what he recommends for my vehicle and use.

Might be 208 oz and .10 for you. Unless you are sending 7.4 volts.

I didnt say research till your head exploads.

How are you gonna have fun if you buy the wrong parts? All it takes is a couple searches for what your looking for. It doesnt take 8 hours to find a stock slash part.

Its like the "bad batteries" i sold a guy.
Showed him they took a charge. Walked him out the store myself.

On Saturday I emailed Tower with a question- I said check my account for orders from April thru July of 2017, now check my orders for same period 2018. The lack of many orders is due to your new slow shipping. Can I choose a different way to receive a order? As of Tuesday at 11:00pm no reply from Tower Hobby. That tells me they could care less if anyone orders from them.

Yep I called and spoke with a manager and they confirmed "there is nothing they can do, they have no power in this situation". I would not be surprised if they are doing this on purpose to drive people to their Horizon Hobby site which I hear has adopted faster shipping methods. Saw a bunch of praise for them at least on rcgroups.

I usually try to opt for quicker shipping methods from vendors who are far away from me. That would now include Tower since they closed the Reno warehouse. A-Main's free (OnTrac) shipping gets to me next day. USPS Priority from RPP is usually 2 days. I prefer A-Main now. Their search function is WAAAAYYYYYYY better and the shipping is faster and cheaper. Don't think I have ordered from Horizon's site but I do know that I have ordered from them on ebay and Amazon.

Its rare that I order from Tower anymore, but I used to order from them a lot. The deal with the SCX10.2 release kinda pissed me off, then they had nothing in stock for so long I just moved on to other places. I really only order from them now if they are the only ones who have something in stock (like my Marlin).

Yeah Im done with tower for sure. Amain and RPP are just flat out better, I dont know if Amain has an Amazon store but RPP and hobbytown do.
