Hey people. I have a tire question. I'm running rc4wd superswamper boggers 120mm. Although they work nice on rocky surface, they kind of suck on slippery stuff. Roots, smooth surface.. They have no grip. I have a few options. I can widen the tire by removing the valve screw, and letting all the air out, or buy another tires. I have hyrax (chinese version), but they are on another rig my kid is using, and I have inteco super swampers tsl/sx. Intecos work really well on trails, but not as well as some other types. So I've heard. They are 115mm.

I was thinking of buying this:

They have a wide thread, and seem grippy. The only issue is that they could limit my steering, since they could hung up on the shock body.

Any other ideas?

It's a trx4 rig, trails are mostly wet/dry forest ground, very few rocks. The rig is at 4kg now, but I'm still waiting for the brass C-hubs and portals, and a warn cti 9.5 winch.. They will add significant weight up front.

Open to any suggestions

Bear in mind that the budget is limited..
 
I always say the Proline Tsl's are the most diverse tire for a trail truck. They don't do anything particularly well, but do well in everything. I was plesantly suprised by Duratrax deep woods my buddy ran. They matched the Tsl's in just about everything.

I was just about to click "buy" on the deep woods. The thread looks really nice, and they are higher than my tsl's. (120mm vs 115)...I'll give them a try...

well bought mine for 36 Euros delivered ...so yes they are cheaper:ror: and Iam pretty sure you cant find original Duratrax for that price in Euro.

Duratrax tires aren't bad, but they aren't quite up to snuff with Proline.

Your terrain sounds similar to around here and I swear by these three tires - Proline Hyrax, Proline TSL XL Super Swampers, and Pitbull Rock Beasts (to a lesser extent since they are a lot more expensive).

Prolines G8 and Predator compounds each have their pros and cons. On damp or wet rocks I'll choose Predator.

So basically... super swampers are an OK tire.. but proline version.. Inteco version isn't all that cheap either.. but cheaper than proline. My bead is damaged so I'm not using them anymore. I'll try the canyon tires. They are renowned... and I got a set on 2,2" beadlocks.. so I'll avoid the side flex..
 
Wet roots are a nightmare for almost any tire.

I feel the TSL SX Super Swamper is decent though.

I hope the Deep Woods work well for you. Be sure to report back once you test 'em out.

tires are an original rc4wd. Beadlocks are some ebay rims... but I've drilled them out, tapped them, and I can use the little screw to vent them, or keep them "inflated"

No. Super Swampers are a great tire. In my top three.
 
When you say both wet and dry, I would choose Proline TSL SX XL super swampers any day. I have the G8 compound.

I was rather shocked to see how well they did on snow as well. I run the Proline single stage foam, which is a bit too firm, I think. But they were awesome.

When it comes to Duratrax, I have the Showdowns. They are generally good, but disappointing last time I tried them on wet rock.

Imo Proline Tsl's in g8 is the most diverse tire out there. It does good in all conditions, but can be beat by other tires that specialize.
