What are good first upgrades?

Ok what i have is a Axial SCX10. Right now as it sits it is all stock.
I have been a long time lurker just looking around and checking out everyone's awesome rigs. And seeing some of the amazing work you all have done. So i am looking forward to learning more and building more rc cars.... :mrgreen:
So what would be my best bang for the buck upgrades?
Tires?
Shocks and springs?
Wheel weights?
4 link?
Any other parts or just leave it alone and get used to the truck?

Any input will be greatly appreciated. "thumbsup"

Vent and weight the Wheels, Mirror the trans, both are cheap and easy.

Put the spur gear shaft in the trans backwards, put the motor plate on backwards. This puts the motor on the right hand side of the truck to "help" prevent torque twist. Normaly the Motor on all Axial transmissions mounts on the left side of the truck, Mirroring the trans is a free trick to help your crawler handle better.

On the new honcho's the instructions tell you to mount it backward. On my AX10 and first generation SCX10 the spur in towards the front.

In regards to upgrades since it's a scale truck and not a comp rig you shouldn't need to upgrade much since not as many items will break. Typical upgrades are stickier tires/foams, MIP or Junfac shafts, external BEC, decent metal gear high torque servo, stronger wheels + small weights, motor/esc upgrade, aluminum knuckles and hubs, 4 link rear.

The stock SCX10 shocks aren't too shabby. I'd say keep those until they break.

I didn't notice this when I built my SCX-10, the only Axial I have that the spur is in the front is my comp rig. That because I am running a Vanquish dig.

The stock shocks seem limit the articulation, I like the Losi 4" crawler shocks on mine with the white springs all the way around and 30wt oil....makes it flex like crazy.

First of all there is nothing wrong with stock...the SCX is a great truck stock. My suggestion is leave it alone and drive it. As you get used to the truck, learn more and read more, the upgrades you are looking for will make themselves known. Good luck "thumbsup"

If you are not competing, just having fun, 2.2 tires and wheels are one of the best "bang for the buck" mods IMHO I have 2.2 Losi rock claws on mine, and that is the biggest single improvement on my truck. A close second, the Mamba Max Pro ESC. More power to the servo, and smooooootttthhhhh low speed control"thumbsup"

That is why i bought it to have fun. I got some nice areas around here to run it so i really appreciate everyone's input. So i guess it is time to go and have fun. It was a blast to build it and i kinda wish i could build something else.... 8) i think i was bit by the building rc car bug... i think i might tackle and on road car next... :mrgreen:

Ok after messing around with it a little I noticed that steering servo was hitting the frame rails. I am Running Traxxas 2056 sterring servo with XL5 ESC and Traxxas 2.4GH.Z radio well basically all the electronics from a slash and the slash receiver waterproof box. So I planed on picking up.

So with that take care of my problem? Also what is a good place to pick up a aluminum steering servo horn?
