What did you do today?

No joke. Ordered a '25 Transit awd 350 hi roof long wb cargo van. GDP spent. Now upfit the thing. There is the US GDP! If you don't know what an upfit van is, Google it. I may have to build a scale version.

When I think of up fitting I think of racking and other accessories to setup a work truck.
Are we speaking the same language?

If so I have done a number of service trucks/trailers over the years, I totally get it.

That Transit sounds lovely 😍

I was thinking more vanlife, fancy camper van. The kind of van influencers live in down by the river. #chrisfarley

Yes and no. Flatline Van C makes the roof rack, running boards and ladder we got, cabinets for the back doors we are considering. Bought stuff so I didn't have to invent mounting everything, all laser cut stuff. Van Murphy bed setup, L track the floor and walls. Solar panels and a big power storage system (like a Tesla power wall) roof a/c and heat that will run all day on it. Easy to get $150 - $200k into one of these things. Overland van if you will, glamping in a way.

These are popular in So Cal, usually on a Benz Sprinter, usually with hi end mtbs hanging off the back doors. Ours is for dog sports, full of Malinois. NASDA and Barn Hunt, with a little confirmation added in. Going to start agility soon as well.

The Jeep I just sold in January was a manual and I guess those are pretty unpopular anymore. Hell, the truck I learned to drive on at age 12-13 was three on the tree!
Never done 3 on the tree! I do occasionally get to drive a 1931 Fagoel with twin sticks.

I learned on a 3 speed tractor sometime between 5 and 7. Since I couldn't lift the hay bales I learned to drive the tractor. Got good on hills fast.

Good to see you, Justin! @AnimalHippie

Was sick as a dog yesterday with what seems like food poisoning but I'm not "that guy". Not a hypochondriac and not psychosomatic lol but I still can't figure it out. One homemade Swiss cheeseburger with sauteed mushrooms, garlic, onion, spicy brown/ mayo blend on toasted/ buttered sesame seed bun... that's what did it.

Was delicious and raw meat had no odor/ wasn't expired. But for whatever reason... I wound up on constant restroom rotation for about 24 hrs burnin my back end. Wound up completely dehydrated and had stomach nausea and cramps like crazy although I never puked and never felt like I was going to... kinda surprising. Could also have been just too much to handle since I don't eat many burgers past few years and this was a hefty 1/2 lb. fully loaded warship... grilled in a cast iron skillet and juicy as all get out. One of the best I've had in a long time but for now I have no appetite for another one lol. Lotta electrolytes today .

Been the best 'late spring-into-summer' season in at least several years. Since end of May been getting lots of rain/ thunderstorms. It's keeping the heat down, watering the lawn/ landscape so I don't have to, and providing a great deal of drought relief for this area of the state. Great lightning/ thunder/ cloud displays past couple weeks as well... and plenty of wind obv. I typically hate this time of year where summer is already in full swing with the excessive heat/ drought but lovin it right now. Admittedly, the older I get the more I like the cooler, stormy days. Gotta be careful what I wish for though... already replaced a hail damaged roof last year. Anyway, we haven't had a rainy streak like this at least within past 3-4+ years. Bottled over 240 gal as well which is great for our indoor/ outdoor potted plants.

Wanted to share here as well that I've got an older woman... been friends with for a good while. And although my wife doesn't particularly care for her ( and I respect why), she and I still maintain a good friendship. Somehow got on the subject of tiny trucks recently and I snagged her interest. She knew I was into RC long ago but talking in detail finally got her a bit curious. So last week we ran my TRX4s on some nice scenic rutted out trails with lots of varying terrain and boy she thought that was fun. She's not 'hooked' but she def wants to go again so next time I want her to drive leaf-sprung so gonna break out the TF2. Not very many people to run with here... not enthusiastic anyway, so... always cool to get people involved.

So what did I do today? Sat inside listening to the rain and thunder, typing all this here. To anyone that read any of that, yeah... lotta rambling but it can be sorta therapeutic sometimes ( "threra-petic" B. Fife) so thanks. Fairly hard times recently and writing beats yelling at clouds. (y)

I must've chewed that clutch like crazy or not been able to see where I was headin... probably both. I was maybe 8-9 yrs old. I remember learning to drive my dad's Super C. as well. Was one hell of an experience until I was comfortable. Had a hell of a time learning to back up with a trailer, bailer, etc.

Judas... had to look up the Fagoel. Must've been something else to drive and surely to maneuver! Out of Ohio.. spent my childhood living there but don't remember ever seeing them. Maybe I did just don't recall.

@ High Plains Drifter

Fully loaded warship lol
Sorry to hear about the rough times

I did a lot today. We went grocery shopping, I made lunch (just sandos, nothing fancy) and then I went to my in-laws to do their yard work.

I learned to drive on a three on the tree Chevy Apache, I was probably 11. It was our family farm honey hauling wagon.

Friend of mine is restoring the Fagoel. it's an awesome old truck. It has. Perkins Turbodiesel from the 1950s or 60 with a 1:1 and OD ranger box going to a 4 speed manual. The original 2 speed rear end was too valuable to run so it has a motorhome rear end in it now. The box is a dump box with AR500 plate and has a hidden winch. He plans to use it a lot.

Fagoel turned into Peterbilt. They were the fastest, most efficient trucks on the planet for awhile. Fagoel is out of California. Well, not really initially.

Some Fagoel History

It's a cool old truck. Same guy had a Peterbilt as a DD in highschool that he got running out of a junkyard and before I met him had a Reo Speedwagon he restored as a ranch truck.

Did some machining and planted a couple trees today.

Went to help a friend out by trying to get his 4x4 VW Vanagon going, as he got a 30 day notice a while ago. Drained the charcoal black oil, and refilled it with something more translucent in the 5-20W flavor. Added 6 quarts of coolant to get it to level at the overflow and the tank fill. Burped the t-stat, and put a new batteria in under pax seat. At this point it would barely turn over, (tight) until I pulled 2 plugs and sprayed some lubricant in the lil sphincter, lol that worked wonders. Time for the 2nd "bank" plug up front "closest to me" per se is corroded AF, and doesn't want to budge but comes out and snap breaks off. Oh, oh, but it's just the "tip" that broke off. But it almost sounded like it wanted to start. By then my friend was feeling tired and we wrapped up.
I asked if i could use one of the shop tools to remove the main part on a woodchipper I'm rebuilding, and it was a success after using a blowtorch and a 3 jaw puller tool. Pics to follow, maybe....
One of my offspring asked to be dropped off to shoot and get shot at with paintballs, which hurt IIRC, reaaly bad. Hard pass on that for me, I needed a nap which engine up taking longer than what i thought.

Wow! That's one hell of a vehicle and nothing like the "1931 Fagoel" images I found online. What a beast... Can't imagine what it's like driving around town lol. But yeah, looks like initially based out of Ohio. Thanks for the info and pic.

I'm not reading anything but a death in Ohio. They were in Iowa in the mid 1800s. One died in Portland. Eventually the company ended up in Oakland after trying Seattle Washington. by 1908 the entire family was in Oakland. In Oakland is where the entire thing really took off. the safety coach and all.

I gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. This is what I was referencing:

"Fageol Motors Co., 1915-1932; Oakland, California; Fageol Motor Sales Co., 1916-1932; Oakland, Calif.; Fageol Truck and Coach Co., 1932-1938; Oakland, California; Fageol Motors Company of Ohio, 1920-1922; Cleveland, Ohio; 1922-1926; Kent, Ohio"

Yesterday I put up the Temp "Barn Yard' on the back porch for the 5 Buff Orps I bought a bit over a month ago. They're growing pretty quickly and are ready to be outside, but not out with the rest at the moment.
Did some cleaning, then went to swap out a toilet for my Aunt.
Chilled pretty much otherwise.
Should have done more.

Today I get the holesaws I need to set up my bog filter for the duck pool, and get it running, which is good as the pool is almost full now. Hoping this works to help keep the duck pool clean. It only takes a week or two for it to get nasty. Hoping this will help keep the algea blooms down and remove the nitrogen from teh duck shit.

Got the bog filter built, but still waiting for one of the mediums to show up on Tuesday. Also need to get an adapter to hook the pump to the inlet on the bottom. This filter fills from the bottom into the drum, fills through large rock, then the medium Im waiting for, then a foot of gravel, then I'll put in the medium again, then fill a gap with some other type of medium, then top that off with the felt medium and a few heavy rocks to hold that down. the water just flows out a pipe near the top and returns to the pool falling in, which helps pull air into the water as well.

Will get a few more pics once I get the adaptre on it tomorrow after work.

Took my son out rock crawling with the SCX6 Jeep and SCX10iii Gladiator. We had technical difficulties with everything which was alright, but we lost the servo horn screw on the SCX6 and I had to carry that beast back to the car, heavy pig! Lost a drive shaft on the Gladiator, Pulled out my newly built base Camp Hummer and it decided it didn't want to work either. All in all we had a good time and got outside for a while! Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
