What hex drivers you using?

I can spin my Hudy ball-end drivers all day long with complete ease and precision. I think that it's the longer shaft length, the spring-steel shaft, and the size and shape of the handle. There's something about turning a smaller lightweight aluminum driver handle with cylindrical symmetry that makes it very enjoyable. Also, longer shaft/ shorter handle means that it reaches many places that my other drivers can't touch. Also I like breaking loose stubborn screws with it because it's as if the spring-steel mimics a built-in breaker-bar.

Just some attributes that I've been noticing lately.
 
I’m looking for some decent metric hex Drivers 1.5, 2 and 2.5mm basically. I have a cheap duratrax tool set that I’ve already worn the tips out of them. Any suggestions? Thanks

I use nothing but INTEGY ones myself. And have for years. They are great quality, and they offer replacement tips for them as well if you should break or strip them. Custom Crawlerz sells a great selection of their tools at the Best prices around. I would recommend them to anyone that asked all day..

Well I have the Protech Hex drivers and they are great.
but I just purchased a set of Vanquish and I love them.. they are great and have been wrenching on them for the last few weeks and they have been great..

You have some good prices on the Integy drivers! "thumbsup" I've always wanted to try them. If I do I'll be hitting you up.

I've always wanted to try those as well. They look good. Are they a tight fit in hex heads? They haven't worn on you?

Zero issues to my recollection, although the smallest shaft is a different color so I may have replaced it at some point. I seem to remember a driveshaft pin that needed heating to remove due to the previous owner using red Loctite on it.

I been using a set of these for a while now, no issues with the bits so far. Not the biggest fan of the driver (lack of grip) but it does work. Files are very handy. Mini hammer is surprisingly useful. Tweezers are 'meh'. Haven't used the picks, but they're pretty robust....

Very compact kit though, I've found it really handy for trail repairs...
 
I've got a set of the team losi hex drivers with replaceable tips that I've had for around ten years. Never had one bad go yet. Although i don't replace the tips when they're worn. I take them to work and cut off about .050" with an endmill in the Bridgeport mill to get back where the hex isn't worn. Don't use a grinder to do it however, the heat softens the steel and your guaranteed a strip out then.
So for people with access to coming tools if not a grinder then what a file or sand paper ?

You want hobby grade tools. I know it sounds silly, but listen to us. Wiha makes nice tools, but they are a looser fit and can still strip screws.

I found that out the hard way !! Now that I'm about done with the build Amazon has a pop up ad with some that are machined vs stamped
 
Do any of you have long or extended hex drivers?

The SCX10 II spur gear cover, for example, is a PITA the remove and install with my MIP drivers. I'd like something long enough to clear the shock towers. It's either that or I have to use ball drivers and struggle with the screws because the shock towers are directly in the way.

What about using the one like you use in a power screwdrver then use one of the extensions for it.

VP, I have broken one 1.5mm tip so far.

Well make that (2) 1.5mm tips broken, both tips are now lodged in pinion gear set screws I'll have to drill or dremel out at one point. I did have another VP replacement tip waiting.

Guess I'll give the MIP tips a shot next.

Did the Vanquish driver break off at the edge of where the hex is ground into the shaft?

One thing I really like about the MIP drivers is the fact they taper down from the diameter of the shaft to the hex, which should make them much stronger than a blunt edge where the hex in ground.

Bingo bango Dodge Durango! Both snapped off where at the edge. I still have this last broken driver, I'll snap a pic and post it.
