how's it going everyone; like my title suggest I am building my first scale crawler. I started with an rtr because I wanted to build a scale Cherokee to match my 1:1 Cherokee. I haven't really driven it much because Montana winter weather is not ideal for a 1.9 crawler. But I wanted to ask a few random questions as I am enjoying building something I think looks cool.

I am not super familiar with the scx10 ii so would love some advice. I noticed there is a lot of play in my front axles and am considering replacing the whole axle housing to something heavier and cooler(Pretty sure I've narrowed the play to the CVD axles that came with the truck); but other than that I would love to find some wheel spacers to give it a wider stance (anyone has a suggestion?). I painted the fenders, added a roof rack, and bought a set of wheels. I am going to order some fenders and am shopping for an interior (interested in any suggestions here). I have been considering the hobbywing motor and esc in one 1800 kv and am curious if anyone has used/liked this setup as i am quite curious.

Other things I am interested in is does anyone have any good information that anyone has put together in a thread or anything about tuning these for crawling? I am fairly new to crawler as I usually am bashing with my yeti or bomber so I would love some good reading information as the weather is getting warmer and I cant wait to start tuning and figuring out how I want to crawl.

My cool roof rack added a lot of weight up top and am curious if I decide I need to add weight down low where is a good place to do it other than brass c-hubs?

Any who, I am ultimately just curious what other people would suggest or think as I can only stare at ebay and amazon images for so long.

These trucks are really good with just a few upgrades. I replaced the stock motor with a Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport, swapped in a new steering servo, added metal steering knuckles for weight, Bowhouse battery and servo tray, VS410 bumpers that fit really well, and a keybak recovery system.

I was like 'what is a Key Back Recovery System'...brilliant! Now on my 'next time I go to Home Depot' list. Going to route mine through the winch I am too lazy to wire up :)

I like your rig; I will have to check out bowhouse the new battery tray is pretty cool. I may not go that route as I have some decent sized 2s batteries that I will be running in this rig. (this rig will be the first one I hand to my kids when they want to play) Did you find that your rtr had a lot of play in the wheels? I am not to worried as its a slow rig but it annoys the hell out of me.

The rear bumper I bought off of amazon looked cool and matched my front but the body posts are to short I haven't looked yet but I am hoping to be able to find longer posts for it.

I've also played with the idea of cutting the fenders off the body and throwing 2.2 tires underneath if I can find proper wheel spacers.

This is a 5200mah 3s battery. The biggest I have.

Me too. This was my first crawler and I'm keeping it around mostly for my 2 boys to drive.

Yeah mine has about an 1/8 turn of play. I think it's the 3 gear tranny.

I've thought about that too. I put 2.2s on my TRX-4 Blazer and I love it. But it's also 2 speed and brushless.

Interesting; my 3s of this mah/c rating doesn't fit in my stock as its to wide lol.

Mine as well but the play that is bother me is side to side. I've changed wheels and it really seems to be the cvd joint in the front axles. I want to buy some new axles to see if it changes it but I kind of want to spend my money on things that look cool or electronics.

Once I buy a 2nd body to cut up I will be experimenting with this. I am also wanting to buy those team ottsix USD stickys 2.2 tires for my bomber. the swampers it currently has would look good under a cut up cherokee body

I run a 5200mah 3S in my 10ii Deadbolt in the stock tray and it fits better than a 5200 2s of the same brand (GoldBatt) - it is shorter when turned on its side, but fatter...I think it varies from battery to battery.

Yea, my 3s batteries are zeebs. I got a 5200 80c thats thick and doesn't fit; my 3700 mah 50c are like half the size though like so small it almost falls out of my bombers battery tray.

I have been enjoying seeing the really cool crazy builds that started out as scx10s; i am really looking forward to summer; messed up my bombers servo today so my budget went buying a nicer servo and not the scx10 ii
