Hello,

New to the forum i have been reading alot on here there is alot of great info. I plan to buy the Axial Wraith Spawn Kit so i can get better acquainted with the rc. I have an HPI Savage x Nitro, and was looking for something a little easier, smaller and electric. came across this kit and loved the scale diffs and the over all look of the wraith. so thats the one i have decided on.

After doing some reading on here (harelys guides) i know kind of ball park what i need for Motor/esc. i have looked at the castle creations Mamba max pro, which will get me the 3s lipos i want cause those i have 2 of and would be nice not to have to buy new batteries unless i have too, also anything i need to upgrade right at the start for 3s would be nice i can upgrade non-essential stuff as they break or if i just want to :lmao:. And will get me the sensored part ive been read i need. But isn't waterproof, according to castle all there motors are waterproof, but they all appear to be sensorless.

The Sidewinder 3 is waterproof but doesn't do sensored motors, i have looked at tekin but their overpriced it seems and i don't see them as waterproof on any of the descriptions. so needles to say i'm getting a little discouraged .

I plan to do mostly bashing with it, small jumps, mudding (if possible), tearing up the dirt, hill climbing, may not really do any crawling persay, but i might do a little if i do. but again mostly just bashing. Any help with be nice i don't have the kit yet so im not in any rush just yet, may just get the kit and wait on the motor and esc. not sure how much room i have in there.

thank you for your time :)

Although if I chose not to crawl rocks with it and just bash it jump it, mud it would a sensorless system be fine?

No crawling just bashing a sensor less is fine but if your going that route I would recommend looking into a yeti or bomber. I believe they handle better then a wraith..
You can also look into holmes hobbies for some wp systems..

Also I was reading up on the castles sidewinder 3 water proof esc, it says it's good for Crawlers but doesn't say it does sensored motors? Is it something in the settings on the computer Vea the link that let's you run sensorless motors in crawlers?

I don't know the tech stuff but sensor runs a cable from motor to esc and it helps with low slow start ups. With out ( sensorless) at slow, start up it's glitch.. Not good when trying to slowly climb a rock and truck is jumpy.
Honestly for crawling I like brushed better. I feel it's smoother more controllable and the hill hold works. Just my .02

I highly recommend Holmes Hobby stuff. He even does a waterproofed Castle Mamba Max Pro. I just dropped his 3300kv Puller Pro Stubby in my Wraith Spawn and am very happy with it. I was running his Crawlmaster 13t brushed motor. So now I have a fully waterproofed sensored brushless setup. It is actually smoother starting than the brushed motor and MUCH higher speed! The whole range is widened and seems better all around. Also I have thoroughly tested the waterproofness of the system climbing a creek last weekend. Zero issues and couldn't be happier with the setup.

I run the same setup only the XL 3500kv motor in my yeti and same zero issue performance with it.

I see, well like you suggested I looked into the bomber and the yeti. I see the yeti comes in a 1/8th scale kit, and just so happens I have a 1/8 esc and motor. So was like score on that part....lol. although looking at it the aftermarket parts support doesn't seem to be there. Seems to be alot for the 1/10th scale but again have to buy a motor and esc. So I'm still torn.

Well after looking at some videos by rcsparks I think a crawler/mudder might be fun....lol so I'll look into some brushed motors for it.......but confused on what they mean my turns? And Holmes systems are pretty good and reasonably priced.....sorry for the mind changing still working on stuff but looking at some videos has pushed me toward the mudding and crawling.

35t holmes torque master withe the sidewinder and you are set. As long as you have all steel gears in the tranny you are good for a long time. Robinson racing has done me good so far

Awesome thanks sounds like a plan to me......as long as it say 35T on the motor i shpuld be good? Does the kit come with steel gears for the tranny?

And how do I get the battery plug and what not water proof there's no Pont in having a waterproof motor and esc if the battery isn't?

Sidewinder 3 is a brushless esc, motor you found is brushed, they dont match cant use them together.

Oh I just thought there was a setting you could turn it to brushed.figured it was to good to be true on price. My mistake good thing I haven't order anything yet...lol

Not true, the sidewinder 3 can run a brushed motor.

You can change motor type (brushed/sensorless brushless) thru stick programming or castle link.

I have run a Sidewinder on brushed and brushless.
