Yeti budget battery suggestions?

I'm in the market for a 3 cell battery, Any suggestions?

I went through HK and picked out a few, but wanted to get some different opinions.

Option 1
Turnigy nano-tech 4000mah 3S 45~90C Lipo Pack (AR Warehouse)

Option 2:

Turnigy nano-tech 4400mah 3S 65~130C Lipo Pack (AR Warehouse)

Option 3:

Turnigy Heavy Duty 4000mAh 3S 60C Lipo Pack (US Warehouse)

Option 4:

Value Hobby R/C Hobby Store (Addison, Illinois): GForce 60C 4000mAh 3S 11.1V LiPO Battery (T Connector)

I use SPC 6500mah 65c 3s lipo, big power long run times , biggest battery that I can fit in the battery tray without modification.

Not really looking to go that big. I really don't need more than 5000mah, 4-5000 is my goal.

thats as big as you can fit length and width wise, it's what i've been using since the gens ace lipo's are all basically out of stock

Option 4 is what I use. The 2200's in my scalers and the 4000's in the yeti. They work and charge great although out of 6 batt's purchased one of the 2200's was DOA.

I've been kicking around these and some similar ones since christmas, i agree with you in 4-5000mah size any bigger and its just too much. Im curious to see how this will turn out.

I've had good luck with the turnigy 2 cells a few of them are 4-5 years old still going strong. My 3 cells are all racers edge which seem great also

I run high discharge turnigy heavy duty batteries, only have experience with the 2650mah though.

I've been running these Nimhs with fairly good results . I run the 6 cell in my SCX 10 and the 7 cell in my Yeti . I had a Lipo blow up on me and destroy my rc10t4 so I swore them off forever . Run time is only about 10-15 mins depending on how I drive but I just have 5 packs and cycle them as I go . I've heard performance isn't as good as on Lipos and I'm sure it might be , but really if your just bashing I don't see a difference . I really see Lipo as more of a racing application and for bashing Nimhs work just fine .

I know this is a little old but I hate to say that if the lipo let go on you, you must have done something to make that happen. I understand they are dangerous but if you follow the simple directions that go along with lipos and you use the proper pack for your application they are as safe as anything else out there. The performance increase is off the charts and with the price of lipos so low I don't see how anyone would choose nimh over them. Makes no sense.

Any concerns with soft packs? I have always used hard case lipos in my rc trucks and soft case for my airplanes. I've cracked a few hard cases on lipos and wondered how soft case lipos hold up to crashes. If soft packs are fine I can pair up two 3s 2200 mah plane batteries for a total of 4400 mah 3s. They fit together perfectly in yeti battery tray. I have several 2200s since they are the most common size for planes I have.

I prefer hard case but as long as you have them mounted up nice and tight so they don't bang around you should be fine.

hahaha this guy is really trying to start a nimh revolution. seen him in a couple threads telling people to get away from the lipo's cause they are only for racing. :lmao:nonsense


I would say try the turnigy a-spec nano tech they are suppose to be built with a lot better quality pieces than any of the other turnigy batteries. Suppose to be their high quality battery. Might try some since I stepped up to the holmes 540xl puller pro motor and it needs good batteries.

I have been running hobby people lipo's forever and they are great some are 4 years old and still perfect.
