Yeti jr wheels

Has anyone found different wheels that will fit? I'm wanting to run a set of paddles on the rear. Found the losi mini t paddles but not sure what rim to use. Maybe you guys that have been around the smaller scale stuff can chime in.

I wonder whether TownsendTdi can give some advice? His/her post #273 in the "Axial 1/18 Yeti (and Yeti Score)" thread shows pictures of the TT with a few different wheel options, but doesn't say anything about performance. Me, I'm curious whether the wheels from the Losi Mini Desert Truck/Vaterra Kalahari (LOS41005) would be an option?

i thought the mini losis just ran on axle pins, not hexes, i could be wrong though. my experience with minis (dromidas) are that wheel and tire sizes are not standardized to allow rim swapping. so not knowing the dimensions of the losi tires, idk what kind of wheel you could get to fit them on the yeti jr. can the JR run in just axle pins?

also does the yeti actually have an 8mm hex, seems like a lot of minis say they have an 8mm hex, even though they actually measure at 7mm. for example dromida wheels are actually 7mm, though literature says 8mm.

I havent actually pulled a wheel off my yeti score jr yet. The site says 12mm hex?

site says "8mm axle with 12mm hex adapter" . I dont think the jr has axle pins at all, just the "8mm" hex which i dont know if its actually 8mm or 7mm.

I did confirm that the mini losis run on just axle pin, they have no hex.

They have a 8mm hex built into the axle and a 12mm adapter goes over that to use 12mm hex wheels.

I'd like to run some SSD D-hole rims but there 2oz each rim and not sure if everything will hold up to the added rotational mass. Or maybe some gearhead delrin rims would be better. So Im curious if anyone else is running aluminum rims without any problems.

2 1/2" tall total paddle height to paddle height
1 1/2" rim bead
1 1/4 wide

manual shows 8mm to 12mm hex adapters both front and rear, the adapters seem to have different offsets, may want to keep that in mind if you are thinking about trying other 8mm hex wheels, not sure i have seen a set of 1/18 wheels with dissimilar offsets before.

given the over sized nature of the yeti jr tires, couldnt you just use 2.2 or 2.2/3.0 wheels and paddle tires? The OD on these "SC" sized paddles is still smaller than the yeti jr tire.

it should actually be pretty easy to find a simple and light 2.2/3.0 wheel with an offset that would work, and bing a 12mm hex takes out a lot of the guess work. though if you were trying to put them on the score and not the RR you would probably need a more traditional 1/18th scale setup.

Guess my front two must be really well stuck on then... could not get them off so assumed (incorrectly)...

Here's the mini t paddles, a little smaller, maybe close to the trophy truck size?



The wheels are almost 1.5", you could possibly stretch them to fit stock axial jr wheels.



I posted a few pics of other tires on the yeti jr but didn't try any of them.

I'd love to try the new PitBull Rock Beast 1.55s on this truck but they're barely in prototype right now. With a set of the new CI 1.55 foams, that'd be a significant upgrade in traction.

Traxxas 1/16 Mini Slash, Associated RC18 Series ABS Black Rims

Those look similar to team associated rc18 Mt wheels, which are also pin drive.

Ok, so I got in contact with a rc parts builder and I am looking to have him make a set of rear wheels to run the losi mini t paddles. Not sure on a price but they would be available thru him in a small trial batch. How many of you would be interested? They will be basic with holes like Alcoa style aluminum possibly anodized black. Also should they be 8mm or 12mm hex? I'm thinking of making the mounting flat and you can use a button head Allen or for those of you running the scx10 axles you can use a lock nut.
