| New toy, a Samurai!
I just picked this up in a barter deal, a 87 Suzuki Samurai! Pretty much stock, I'm the 3rd owner, who know the real mileage, runs good, everything works! Al ittl e rough but hey it's and old Zuk! Small plans, SOA, power steering, probably some 31's or 32's, fuel injection or a Tracker motor some type of lockers maybe? I've always wanted to tinker with one and this one just kind of fell in my lap! Any Zuki owners out there? |

is this going to a trail only rig or both road n trail? and how much do you wanna spend? I've had both street n trail zuks loved them. you forget what its like to have power after a while and just enjoy the rig.

Cute, is that a RC3WD fair lead on the bumper? Brushless on 4S would bring that thing to life! |

I remember when mine looked like that. lol If all you want to run is 31/32" tires either re gear the axles or get a 4.16 t case gears. 1st thing to do is upgrade the t-case mounts. don't take much to break the factory rubber ones. |

cheap panty liner ZOR Panty Liner driver side t-case mount reinforcement snatch cradle ZOR 17/14 bolt SUPER Snatch t-case cradle kit - Bare Naked edit - also the front tcase output shaft on the older zuks is crap. i would just go ahead and get the later version so you dont have to worry about it. | Re: New toy, a Samurai! Do not...do not put a Weber on it unless you're just gonna drive it to the mall and back. I had good luck with a Toyota carb off of a 2TC motor from a late 70's corolla. The stock carb is great...if it's still working...they'll damn near run upside down. I just recently went to a 1.6 8v with the TBI setup. Of course it's a lot smoother and the throttle response is much crisper. |

Good find i see the usal rust on the rockers. soa with 31's leave the carb alone if it runs well. ad a litle winch and you now have a heated quad with a roof. enjoy her i sure do miss my two sammies

i love zuks. easy to work on, cheap, and the guys who are into them are cheap so they figure out alot of ways to do things... cheap. e.g. i have a wrx master cylinder on mine, and all i needed to do to get it to fit was cut a bolt to extend the pushrod. (great mod btw if you run discs front and back) |

Agree, if the carb works leave it. I see the latest is to use a cv carb off a harley. Who would've thought? | |

any samurai owners you ask..... 1987 Tin Top saved from crusher at junkyard Jeep YJ springs with custom SPOA Mercedes 2.4L 4cyl Diesel, 4spd manual trans Dodge Neon seats Boat trailer aluminum fenders instead of flares (also cut out the rust and did virtual lift) Ebay samurai sword cut down and made into shifter since the pic I have added trailer lights for turn signals/side markers and all rear lights,H4 conversion headlights with led front markers in them and sold the 15x38.5x15 boggers, trying to decide what tires to run right now so its just on rollers. |

thanks I didnt want to go to a jeep looking squared off fender but wanted more coverage, also didn't have $400 to spend on something like bushwackers. OP how is your little project coming along? I will say if you never had one a stock samurai with just a locker in rear can go a surprising amount of places and still be pulled out by an atv/sideXside or even a 2500-3000lb atv winch on the front lol.

Just cause I like to whore pics of mine out there..... 87 TinTop. I put a 1.6 16v out of a 94 Sidekick in it, 6.5:1 T-case, 6" SPOA, 32" Pro-Comp MT's, Trail Tough bumper front and rear w/ spare carrier, Dodge Neon seats, looking at spooling the rear, and power steering off the Sidekick. I have a 86 convertible that I want to buggy (only have the front clip off so far, but looking at a 302/5.0, AOD tranny, Dana20 or Atlas t-case, 44 and 9' rear (I have those, thats why all the FORD stuff) and running a 36-38" tire. They are very simple to work on. I did all my mods in my garage. One of the best places for advice is Myron at ZOR (or MY as most know him). He did my wire harness for the 1.6 swap and it was a plug and play. If he cant answer your questions or get you the part, he will find someone that can. He has a carb set called the MY-side that is suppose to be the $hit. These are fun little rigs, that will go anywhere bone stock. |
