Default SCX10 Jeep build.

This will be an SCX10 based Jeep build. Most of this will be a copy of a build I read about here by "Tommy R".

So far I have the chassis built up. I'm waiting on the Tamiya Jeep body.

Here are some of the parts I'm using.

Hand Brothers CMS kit
Wheelie King shock shafts
Vanquish High Steer Knuckles
Traxxas rod ends
RC4WD 1.55 Rock Stompers
RC4WD 1.55 Stamped Steel Rims (soon to be painted black)
Hitec HS-645MG servo
Axial 4 link in rear

My front top links are 60mm, bottom are 80mm track bar is 60mm and the servo rod is 60mm.

The rear top links are 55mm and the bottom are 60mm.

The trans plate was moved 1/2" foward and 2" was cut from the rear of the chassis. When using the Traxxas ball ends I needed to add a 1mm washer everywhere I used one.

This gives me a wheel base of 10 1/4".

Here are some pics of how it looks so far.

More to come.

Fran

Looks great, Fran!

I received similar questions about the angle of the rear shocks when I built mine. I can't speak for Fran, but I modeled mine after 1:1 TJs who run coilovers and this is typically the angle they run due to limitations and space contraints in a Jeep with a full inner fender well.

The rear shock hoop is still in the factory spot. When I moved the rear axle forward the shock angles back to the mount. I was going to move it but it works so well where it is I just left it there.

Thanks Tommy.

I modeled mine after yours. After watching your videos and seeing how well your Jeep worked I was hooked. I'm glad to hear some 1:1's have it this way. Your bumpers will look great on it Tommy. Thanks.

I have a New Bright Jeep body I got from a Toys R Us RC. Here is a pic of it just sitting on the chassis. I think I'm going to use the Tamiya body first. After I finish it I'll start chopping the NB body.

Very slow going. I'm new to working with styrene and my work has kept me away from home a lot.

I did get some work done on the body. I also painted the rims black. I'm going to try to finish up the body work this week and see if I can get some paint on it soon.

Here are a few pics...

I got some paint on it. The bumpers and winch mounted. I still need to do a lot of detal work and mount the radio gear.

Here are some pics...

I painted the piping and the rockers black. Still working on the lights and radio gear. I hope to get it crawling soon.

Looks great. Where are you crawling in the Philly area? I'm not too far.

Mine is just a toy so I can spring it any way I like.

I put the radio gear in it but lots of stuff going on and its hard to find time to get anything done.

A friend of mine is talking about getting 2 SCX10's for him and his son. I hope he does. I dont know anyone that is into crawlers. Not much fun running these things by myself. But I do enjoy building.
