how many leafs you running two or three ? don't forget once you add all the electronics and a battery it will sag a bit more too. if it's not enough you can always weight the crap out of the wheels and it would have no choice but to flex |

Not sure how my rig would compare to yours, but I am running only the one main leaf in my blue chevy. I also took my stock 350 leafs flattened them out ( de-arched ). My rig is the outback chassis, hard body clod, and hi-lift axles. I also ended up using the little lift blocks to gain more tire clearance. |

| since this is the noob leaf spring thread, I'll ask this here do leaf sprung rigs require shocks? I want to use the rc bros leaf kit and wondered if I needed shocks to go with it... Are your leafs chino modded? |

Hopefully this is not a hijack. If so, do apologize. In my personal rigs I run two different setups. In the blue chevy fully leafed ( 6.4 lbs ) I run one main leaf and rc4wd scale shocks with soft internal springs. On the rock cop truggy ( 8.2 lbs ) that has bruiser leafs in front and 4 linked rear I run the main leaf and one load leaf. The shocks are turned down TLT shocks with no internal springs. I have not done the chino mod on my leafs yet, but I have seen many threads proof that the mod really does offer an advantage. Ok that's it for me, back to the OP. updates ? |

The Chino mod will help a lot. Also, the leafs need weight and time to break in to work well.

i chino modded my leafs and ran a main leaf and the medium leaf. not the short one and not the long one. so just two. flattened them out to 1/2" total height when stood upside down. my shackle angle was to where it was at a completely flat spring the shackle would max out. set it up just right so i got the most from the springs. my setup was mostly downtravel, like 80%. i use "shocks" that dont do any dampening whatsoever. just for looks. no problems with bouncing or needing shock absorption. |

not really an update, just passing along info really. i took a chance on the proline interior, and its a PERFECT fit. like it was made for this body not the jeep. even the wheel wells and cargo area are a perfect match. width etc is dead on. |

Do what Matt said with the springs. Chino mod them and strip off some 12g wire insulation as bushings, run the main leaf and a middle leaf. The shackle angle is very important, you want it to relaxed. 45* or so at ride height, you want it to lay over almost flat when compressed. I would run either og bruiser leafs or some chino leafs. High lifts are really arched and take a lot of work for them to settle in. You can also run some rc4wd reds but you MUST run 3 leafs because they are mega soft. Cory, put the controller down and make some progress on this bad a$$ build I think for attaching the body and interior to each other shoo goo or similar would work without messing up the paint, assuming Cory is going to paint the inside. |
