Default 1.5 Clod

So this will be my first clod as well as first 1.5 scale tire build. I have been contemplating on what wheels and tires for the perfect combo. I have narrowed to steelies or steel color landies. For tires I have a srange attraction to the 1.55 Rock Stompers.

Anyways the look Im going for is a good ole boy truck with some nice rub spots and rough paint. This as well will be new to me....some aging maybe a little well placed rust.

I wanted to do a 1.55 Land Rover, but I ALREADY had this complete clod kit so I though what the hell.
My blank slate....

First order is to patch the hood hole....

Okay so cowl filled, so are the front holes and the sun roof. The sun roof took a lot of sanding to get perfect but it is smooth now. The bead on the front will need a little more work but its close.

First hiccup was placing the body on the scx10 axles. I just dont believe that I can have the track width that far off, man I wish I could narrow axial axles. I dont have the patience....so I am now shopping axles. maybe some k44s.

I looking for feedback on the wheels still may just have to go with the steelies.

Tomorrow I will start on the drop bed and the tube work.

I got better with the cutting on the sunroof, take more time on cutting and yield less overall work.

So I have a MRC with a lot of metal on the axles just sitting....what do you guys think. The wheels fully tuck. They could use a hair of a wheel widener but we will see what it really needs after I get the wheels and tires. I need to sell some stuff. I also need some longer links.

After looking at my options I am going to try and stick to the axials...or at least I finally ordered the wheels and tires for this build. On their way
  • we will see how they look on here.

Put in a few hours into her last night.....here is the yield

Putting the wheel wells together after some research.

Bed panels.

One side trimmed and sanded out as well as well as bed panels added.

and finally all bed panels done and wheel wells close to completion. Also shown is the battery location....future home of a cool toolbox.

She must be raised up a bit I imagine....? I was amazed at how small the wheel wells were compared to how they look. I really wanted a tuck-able tire and the ones I ordered are pretty small for sure. Almost the smallest I could find....the dirt grabbers 1.5ers
