I used to have one. Very little articulation, but still very fun to drive.

I found that with very little tweaking using all the original suspension the trail stomper has just as much articulation as a trailfinder with red leafs, and is much more stable. They seem to be a good little rig right out of the box......but definently get a hardbody, the lexan doesnt do these rigs justice.

First thing you're gonna want to do is replace the stock driveshafts. Mine broke on the second run...on flat ground!

I've got one. I cut and shortened the chassis/wheelbase to fit a tamiya FJ40. It takes a little suspension tuning, and a waaay bigger pinion on the motor and it's great. I had a stock driveshaft pop off once, but even a few hours running never again. I just put it back on. It came off because one of the Ujoint pins slid half out. I just utilized a nearby rock to tap it back in and since it's been great. The transmission is very noisy though. Even adjusting gear mesh, still very loud. RC4WD Trail Finder FJ40 - YouTube Even after adjusting the suspension the single leaf softened up a bit after a couple hours running. It flexes a little better now. I removed all but one leaf, took the inner springs out of the shocks, and removed the o-rings from the cup on the bottom of the shock. Last edited by makaveliks; 10-26-2012 at 08:01 AM. |
