Default ScaleReady's Flatbed Hilux farm truck build

I got this roller in a trade. It is rolling on 1.9's currently, but it will have a set of 1.5's on it as soon as I get them in the mail. It will also sit a little bit lower as well. It had a bobbed bed on it, and a poorly done bob-job at that. I decided to ditch the bed, even though I really wanted a full bodied hilux, for once. I love the paint on this thing. It looks like an old weathered farm truck

I stripped it down to nothin, cleaned it up, and let the games begin!

As you can see in these first few pictures, I even attempted to remove the bed sides, to use them on a tube rear cage. Turns out they are bobbed uneven, also. Ever so slightly, but too much for my taste. I got my Dr. Pepper box, template on the frame for fitment.

Fast forward to it's current state. I copied the template over to sheet metal and got it all cut out. Had to do some minor massaging to get the tires to clear 100%.. No big deal. Built the headache rack out of 3/16" square stock.

The panel in the headache rack is 1/8" T-6 aluminum. I built some tabs on the back side of the rack, and drilled/tapped them for attaching the panel. Built a lower panel in the rear for tail lights and a possible tow hitch. Reinforced it on the backside. Built tabs on the rack for catching the two mounting holes on the back of the cab. I have plenty left to do still, so stay tuned. This is my first flatbed build too

Plenty of clearance for the shocks to move around. The two screws inside the front bumper are where the cab mounts to the frame. I have a factory SCX 'frame-end' crossmember in the front that it is screwed to. Worked perfect

I know this is very minor....but aren't those 1.9 wheels and tires.

This is going to be good.

Yeah, those are 1.9's on it. I couldn't wait to get the new wheels and tires on it before posting a thread.

You.......

Little more done to it. I think the bed is finished. Simple and clean.
