Default Farm Truck Willys

I recently became the new owner of the Willys pick up cab that was built by pardonmyn00b, and have been slowly letting a truck form around it. It finally reached roller statues so i guess its time to start a build thread. Basic plan is a mostly stock, barn find, work truck sort of deal.

Other parts include heavily modded leaf sprung MRC axles and RC4WD 1.55 Landies wrapped and Rocky Country tires for a vintage 4x4 look. Power will be directed through an R3 2 speed transmission and Hammer T-case. All of which is connected together with a bunch of laser cut bits and pieces.

the basic lay out im aiming for

I took 2 mostly complete sets of MRC axles, shaved the cases, cut them up, and ended up with two complete axles 1" wider.

The axles cases were than JB welded along with the inner support tubes.

the frame was cut from 1/4" aluminum and the straight center section bent to make it 1/2" wider in rear.

The following weeks up until today have included u-bolts, spring mounts, shackles and hangers, t-case mount, steering, servo mount, and trans shift servo mount.

Nice work on the axles. I too have had a few 1.1 willys. I'll keep watching for more updates.

Thanks Curtis. You should come to the next comp, I should have the chassis drivable by then and we can do some trail riding. I think this thing is going to look awesome next to your sammi

When I saw the body for sale I was a little worried what might happen to it. Glad to see its getting the propper treatment, the chassis and axles look perfect.

Hope to see this in person some day, love it.

I like where you're taking this. The chassis looks great and the widened MRC axles are dope. I never thought of doing that!

This looks great, nice work. Wasn't this Willys blue and white at some point in time when another member had it?

No, you're referring to the truck 51willysjeep owned, that f-150highlift originally built. I had this body originally, I bought it off a guy on here back in sept. of 2010 I believe, I painted it and put the interior in it which looks like it has been removed. If you search you can find the thread I had on it.

You are correct, the interior has been removed and is being rebuilt to accommodate the running gear.

Scale4x4s build.
55' willys pickup ( body built by pardonmyn00b)

No major updates on the truck currently other than getting some test electronics wired up. I hope to make the first test run on the rock at our local comp this weekend

Need some inspiration? this is one of my all time favourite trucks on Pirate 4x4, build thread here: 61' Superior Traction Willy's Pick-up build thread - Pirate4x4.Com : 4x4 and Off-Road Forum Build this, (tractor tires and all) and you'll have one of the most unique crawlers out there.

I've always wanted to build this truck, tractor tires, wood bed and all, but I have never had the body. DO IIIITTT!!!

I remember seeing that truck before while searching for something willys related, I think the same guy has a cj with the same tires. Unfortunately thats a little more extreme than what i have planed for this body, but im sure if you squint hard enough or get really hammered it might kind of resemble it.

sadly I wasn't able to get the test electronics squared away in time for the test run so that will be postponed for another weekend.

Man what a score , n00b always make some nice stuff. I'm jealous ! Great work so far, looking awesome but I must say I was a little disappointed thinking you'd be doing another metal body. Keep us posted .

Thanks, but I think you have me confused with another builder. Iv never done a metal body rig. In fact this is my first and only build thread on this site to date.

edit: a quick board member search and some build thread snooping would lead me to believe your thinking of Metal Masher

No updates on the truck for now, Iv been procrastinating a lot lately
