The final version looks 100 times better than the concept, it works well.

I'm really looking forward to driving this, however the environment I want, a dusty, dry scrubland alla Baja is a world away from here in the UK where everywhere is unfortuntely wet and muddy!

I may have to wait until late July for everything to dry out lol.

Here's some detail from the back, I've used some rubber tubing as the fast fill for the fuel cell. I need to find a better way of attaching it to the frame, at the moment it's just held in place with a cable tie, fortunately I found a metal collar that fits perfectly around the tube and something else from a random parts tree to use as a cap.

I swapped out the Tamiya stickers for some pucker licensed ones after receiving some words of wisdom from Harry:-

Added another Penzoil sticker on the hood, which I'm not 100% sure about.

I also found a great resource for old Baja Race maps over at www.murdochnav.com and printed some out for the co-driver:-

Cheers, Charlie

Found a vendor that makes Simpson branded scale racing harnesses which match my sponsorship decals, result!

Such awesome detail, the maps are a great touch! Your driver looks tired or bored... better get this out on some dirt before he falls asleep!

Cheers, he's definitely fatigued, he's on the last stretch into to Ensenada.

I did some more detailing today, painted and added a fire extinguisher:-

I also worked on the rapid fill fuel line which previously was held in place by a cable tie. I found a suitable plastic bracket in the parts bin, drilled and tapped the frame and screwed it into place. I also found a cap which not only fits, but opens hehe!

Under the hood I swapped out the 15t pinion for a 23t as I want this thing to run relatively quickly in top gear. A little bit more fussing here and there and I think I'm about done. If anyone has any idea what other equipment these guys used to carry in the beds I'd be interested.

Still fiddling with details, decided to add this protection plate to the front bumper, not too keen on the hex bolts but can't currently think of an alternative mounting method.

A friend has kindly donated me another quick release wheel clamp which I need to add to the second spare and I think I will be finished.

For the front skid plate, how about counter sunk bolts instead of the button heads?
I've said it before, absolutely amazing work.

Very cool build! Since you're interested in details, there's one thing missing from pics of these prerunners I've seen: a 3-4" side exhaust that terminates in front of the rear wheels.

Yes I did think about that but on reflection, and with input from others I'm going to remove the skid plate, it's not working for me.
