The boat is a Graupner Phantom. It's modeled after the fullsize Phantom.

Don't you hate when people lie on Ebay. The wheel base on the new body was shorter than the guy said. I had to make links and drill some new mounting holes just to make the body fit.
I changed shockes to some internally sprung ones and mounted the body.

And the must have pic.

Bought these for the light show. And have more coming

I also have bigger 1.9s on the way.
What do you think of the new body and ride height?????

It's looking good so far, I would drop the ride height a little bit, but wait til you get the bigger tires on, then you'll be able to tell.

If you still want to use the caddy body, go get a gallon of Castrol Super clean. Dump it in a tub big enough to soak the whole body shell in (Make sure it's completely disassembled.... it will strip chrome too!)

IN about 48 hours and with just a light scrubbing you'll have a clean-as-a-whistle body shell.

Besides, the F-350 makes a more beleavable tow rig;)
Now, any suggestions on the tires???? I'm thinking slingers or some RPP crazy crawlers.
congrats on the kids. I have a 5 yr old and 1 yr old so I 'get it'.

slingers on the ford! and a new paint job for pete's sake!

The paint is dry enough to mount the body and take a few pics. I installed some reduced Moabs on one side and left the other side alone. I think I actually like the smaller tire better. I just need to lower the body a little. I think I'll save the moabs for the rock racer tuber I'm starting soon???? What do you think looks better?
The last pic is of the holes for the running lights that I am installing. The body should back together tomorrow with all the lights installed. I'll post pics as the work continues....

I'm having a hard time with that body. It just doesn't look right, looks cartoonish. I like the idea of using the Yukon/Tahoe body.

Yeah I know what you mean. The front wheel well sits too far back. It will do for now, untill I get the caddy body finished.

I think you did the best possible with it, but its just a little stubby looking, and that can't be fixed. Look forward to seeing the progress with the caddy body.
