| MRC VW Beetle
My girlfriend wanted to have her own car, and since she loves VW Beetle, decision was easy. The MRC is ideal base for this project. I wanted this car to be simple, so I just added two rails to the original frame and made a four link setup. Back is clear and nice, but front is kinda ugly, cause I wanted to keep the servo on axle, but this may change one time. Shocks are basic friction ones from VMG. The only problem is lenght of driveshafts, I need spare ones to make them longer. I am using the Kamtec body and add some details, bumpers, lights etc. Here some pics: |

body is painted and bodyposts made...it's almost trail ready, just the driveshafts are missing...this lexan body will not get any lights and scale treatment, the ABS one will, and my GF gets it, after she learns how to drive an RC...this one is her first |

Not sure what DI means. If you mean the ones on pictures, these are Race Touareg wheels, and the width is 163mm

here is a little update...I got that L-trail thing and it looks much better...I also did my first try with chassis mounted servo...there is some steer when flexing, but I can live with it...the worst thing is, there is so little space for everything...I mean 4link, servo and shocks on the axle...so I will keep it in this configuration and see what my GF says abut driving it here are some pics -> |

thats too cool. have you thought about 1.5 rims for it? and reduce the 1.9 tires or even tamiya beetle wheels Last edited by STANG KILLA SS; 02-07-2009 at 05:45 AM. |

actually i have thought about it, I even have Mini Cooper 1,5 rims at home, that would look cool on the beetle...I'm just worried about reducing tires...never have done that before...but the more I think about it, the more i like the idea...It is probably time for my first time |

I had to change servo location, because the steereng was really crappy:( Since I wanted to keep the same four link setup on both axles, the only place for servo was in front of the front axle, so I made a small servoplate, mounted on the axle and pointing forward, and put servo there...I was surprised how well it works Now I am working on bumpers and maybe sliders... some blurry pics taken with a phone |

That looks sweet! I have always liked the lifted stock VW's that I used to see back in San Diego growing up. I used to have an Orange and white one a lot like that. I think I would lose the spair tire though...JMO! |

thanks for the kind words...green is my GF's favorite, so it has to be green...and the spare adds the offroad look in my opinion... the Bug keeps surprising me with it's offroad abilities...it can go anywhere without a problem and its really fun to drive... finally some better outdoor pics of this little thing... |
