nice clean k5. I'm not digging the rear bumper. it doesnt seem to go with the body, like you bought it at a junk yard from a different truck, but that doesnt fit the rest of the build. just my opinion.

re the DS-can't you make a longer one with multiples of the stock ones like you would extend the traxxas half shafts?

I thought the outputs on the MRC are 1mm smaller diameter preventing their use? a direct bolt in would be a surprise to me...a nice surprise.

The rear bumper will look A LOT better once its remounted.

The mod youre talking about with the stock DS's is what Ive already tried and its still about .5" too short. Im not gonna jerry-rig 4 sets of DS's to try and make something work. I think I just plain need longer shafts.

Im looking at the stock Pede shafts on Tower Hobby and they dont look like they would fit??? Looks like the ends are bigger and they use that traxxas style u-joint??

Anyone else have any imput on whether or not the Pede shaft will work or if theres some modification you have to do to them to get them to fit?? OR is there another shaft that could possibly work??

Thanks, Jon

I put a set screw into both sides of the yokes in order to clamp them down on the outputs. I haven't had a problem with them yet, but they're on a lightly driven 1.5 rig. That still doesn't mean they can't handle the torque and wheel speed when I need it.

Here you go. The drive shafts run smoothly and there's no wobble in the yokes. The Losi DS's will probably still be better though.

Nice DIY chassis, what's this Losi's part at #16 ???

I also have a planning to my MRC, to extend the wheelbase to 11"~11.5" with using TCS X-trail chassis and mount with a Proline F-100 body.

btw, i have no idea for the drive shafts (both front & rear)?
What is the diameter of the axle output shaft ?

Is it possible to use a RC4WD Punisher Shaft to instead the original's one.

IS520- Post 16 are an extra set of stock shafts that I was originally going to modify to make longer shafts out of the two stockers. Word to the wise: any more than about a 10" WB and you can scrap that idea, they are still about .5" too short.

I ended up using regular Pede shafts with Traxxis yolks that I was told at my LHS were for a boat. They are simular to the white yolks pictured in Blazzerboggers post but they have a metal end on the side closest to the outputs. They are the exact same inside dia (which I believe is 3mm) as the stock shafts and are a direct bolt-on. I did have to "massage" the tranny case & motor bracket to get the front shaft on the output. They are a bigger dia so it's a little tight.

It would probably be easier just to show you so I'll take some pics tonight since I've been getting so many requests on these anyways ;)

Ranovru - Thks for your sharing, can't wait to see your pics.

Therefore, the dia. of shock axle shafts is only 3mm, is it ?

So in these pics you can see how the Traxxis yolks inside dia. are the same as the stock ones. Again, on the front output on the tranny you'll have to shave away a little on the case & motor plate...

BTW, the part # for the yolks is TRA1539R, and they work with stock Pede shafts...

Any Q's feel free to ask...

Default front bumper

Hey RANOVRU - if I can make a suggestion, how about cutting the off the molded in bumper on the body and pushing that proline bumper back so it just sits under under the lower edge of the grill? Just a thought

Yea I'll be making brackets to tie both bumpers into the frame here very soon. I'll be trimming away the bumper on the body just as you mentioned

A little update.

The body got beat up a little at the first informal free crawl that was set up comp style. I swear free comps are the best ones..guys get crazy..

Anyway I haven't had a whole lot of time/funds to work on my rig, I got the body trimmed for the bumpers to be mounted. Got a couple pics that show what they should look like once I get them mounted. I think I'm gonna like it.

Also broke 2 servo arms the other night (about 5 total now) so I'll be getting an alumin. one either today or tomm. This kind of gave me a reason to go ahead and clean things up on the front axle and chasis mount the servo. So in the last pic you can see where I'm gonna mount the servo to the chasis and then I'll be grinding the housing clean. Basically I'm just rotating the servo 180* and mounting on the bottom side of that front crossmember.

And lastly, I picked up my high tech housing for my electronics yesterday.

Stay tuned...by first of the week I should have pics of progress...
