Got new RC4WD Tango down 1.9 rims. Mounting was pretty easy with the Rox Lox's. Lost some over all width of about .25" compared to the T-Runners.
BTW, the yota is soon to be the donor for the new Unimog Truggy Build, after I finish my Ford and Tundra Truggy.

Nice rig man!!!! Thats the most one off yota i seen in a long time!

Big Bill 12-18-2010 08:23 AM

Nice Justinart, Iam about to start a SCX/Yots build and have been reading all of the build threads for them I can find. Still collecting parts but just about ready to start, I think I have "borrowed" enough ideas from the threads to get the work under way. Your rig and building skills have come a long way since the first post of this build."thumbsup"

I decided to tear the yota down and covert it to a Class 1 rig. Have do redo sliders, rear bumper, body mounts, servo winch mount and etc. Haven't decided on tire and wheel combo just yet, I hope RC4WD comes out with more 4.19 tires soon so I can run my tango down bead locks though.

Updates...
-Holmes Hobbies 30t motor
-32p Pinon and Spur
-Cut stock bumper off so I can later low the body down. I love the new look!

Big Bill 01-11-2011 08:54 AM

Now I was bored this morning and I got 57 spur and 9 pinion:lmao:. How close was I and what did I win??

Tommy R 01-11-2011 09:02 AM

Justin, will those Tango Downs pull the track width in far enough or will you need to add flares?

I think I just got over half tire coverage with the Tango downs. Looks like I will be ordering some fender flares. L

Drexcl 01-11-2011 06:48 PM

Were did you get the spur gear? Link? Im having a hell of a time locating a 58t 32p spur. I've found every other tooth count but 58. I may just have to go with a 56.

Here you go. It comes out to be about the same ratio as a stock 87/14 setup."thumbsup"

justinart24 01-23-2011 01:29 AM

Did some more changes to get this rig in Class 1 specs. I am still not excited about the minimum of .25" tire thread showing. I decided to use some Axial fender flares, not too happy with how big they are, but there growing on me. I will be doing a flat bed with a headache.

Updates...
-Proline Shocks
-New hilux cab with Reign back cab.
-Novak 21.5 BL motor with Mamba Max Pro
-Axial Bent links with Hand Bros rear 3 link
-1.9 RC4WD Tomahawk tires
-New Front bumper, will get a small stinger later
-STRC alum rear lock outs

nice yoder!

I was wondering if you've tried mounting the boggers to the tango down rims? I was looking into some boggers for my tangos but i'm not sure if they'll fit. I mean they're both 1.9s but sometimes the rubber thickness makes it a pain in the arse.

Plus i think boggers on tangos would look sick as fudge.

slash23 04-19-2011 09:10 PM

i think it might look pretty cool if you cut the axial fenders so they are flat fenders

Fowlboy 04-19-2011 09:15 PM

I just finished flipping through all your past builds on this thread... That looks like a ton of fun for sure! I can't wait to go down to the slab... I will be there this weekend pending NO RAIN..."thumbsup"

Thanks man, I am really excited to drive it. This class is really scale and makes you a better driver because of the small tires.

offacup 05-11-2011 11:08 AM

I like the new look. The silver paint with the black hood and flares POP!!!

I don't know about any Comp rules as I am a "recreational rc scaler" but, couldn't you have used these flares???
http://store.rc4wd.com/Heavy-Duty-Fe...dy-_p_336.html

Not sure if I may be asking a dumb question...
But at least they're made for the Yota body and no cutting would be necessary...

Nonetheless, your build and rebuilds have been Awesome to read up on for a "noobie" like me... "thumbsup"

Thanks dood! I have a set of those fender flares already. I put these axial fender flares on when the new SORRC rules were set at .25" of tire allowed to be shown. The rules have changed, oh well. The axial fender flares are growing on me, they will allow for bigger tires anyways.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Updates...

-New motor: Brood Onslaught Type GT 35T.

I got my flash points mounted up and got a bit more done on the rear tube work. Man, I am digging the flat bed look.

BTW, I got to give some credit to pardonmyn00b's hilux flatbed build, and rbgerrish's Dorkstar Toyota build...truly inspiring.

Not too pretty but it braces it. :)

Also mounted my license plate holder. Got it from RPP, but just FYI, it doesn't come with the mounting hardware like shown on the website. BTW, it fits Rockpiles plates perfectly.

Held in with a counter sunk bolt taped into some square stock.

And just for fun, I wanted to see what the Double Trouble dually rims looked like underneth the bed. Not bad, I have another truck I will be build soon, it will be a 2dr f350 mall crusier/flatbed tow truck with possible goose neck.

What lower links are they exactly?

Thanks sir, good luck on your build.

The links are Axial's AX10 HI-CLEARANCE machined links. Be careful, some adjusting is needed to run those in a scx10, due to them contacting the top 4-links."thumbsup"

Did some wiring tonight, enough to drive it around the garage floor(I haven't drove this truck for almost a year..lol). Still have to spend some time cleaning up the wiring and some what water proofing the electronics.

Short video, turns pretty good, mostly due to the Axial under-drive(rear) and over-drive(Front) gears in the axles.

Made some inner fender wells.

Switch on the left is to turn off the winch, so it doesn't drift (Saw Wheelnjp aka Sean do this a while back). Switch on the right is for the ESC.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8810.jpg

Pretty tight fit with the body, hope it helps keep mud out.

Bit of a mess, but I will make it look prrrrrretty.:D
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8821.jpg

I use RC4WD winch line, works pretty well and I also use the RC4WD king kong hook and RC4WD fairlead.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j1...C/IMG_8816.jpg

I also swapped in a Robitronic Aluminum Servo Arm.
