| Some more shots of the parts
I just took some more pictures of the parts. Here you can see the body without the outer panels, so you have an idea what it looks like underneath, and how it will sit on the frame: |

How about a video of the printer in action? The inner wheel wells on the front are awesome!

OK, today came a package from the casting company. The wheels and the radius arms were done. Here you cann see the result, still with the portion where the material was going in. I do not know the term for that, but see for yourself: On the right were the radius arms, still to be finished as well. I also started to spray-fill the body parts: This is after the first coat, now to be sanded, then spray filled the second time. And here is the preview of the latest idea: Since the Yota axles were not really scale for a Mercedes, I thought about making my own axles for this project. And this is how the pumpkin could be look alike: Not sure if this is going to work out yet, but we'll see! Michael |

That thing is so cool! I'm just finishing up the last few details on a 3d printer. I hope to have it printing in a few weeks. Don't throw away your CAD files! I'm looking forward to making some scale accessories. |

When I was cleaning up my workspace, and I had to collect each and every pice of the body anyway, I had the idea to take a picture of all the parts. Since I do like the picture, I thought I will share it with you, so you have an idea of how many pieces the "kit" contains! Michael |

I was continuing with the axle design I started. And I have found out, that I maybe had a calculating error in the design. Somehow the pumpkin became a little too large. I am really happy with the design, but the size just does not look right. So I tried it in another scale, but this is too small. A little maybe, but still. Whatcha all think? Nice work, man Looks amazing. How much does a 3D like you use it cost? And how much is the post for ink, powder and hardener. Noch mal auf Deutsch: Sehr sehr schönes Projekt. Wie viel kostet eine solche Maschine, worauf belaufen sich die kosten beim modellieren von solchen Teilen? Kannst du auch mal was für mich modellieren? |

That were the first parts that were getting ready. Slowly. The bonnet is smooth as a babys a**. The checkered look comes from the steps of the printing process. At the moment I ran out of primer, so I cannot go on. But now at least its going on! Michael |

I made another pumpkin, now much more scale in respect of the original axle, but maybe slightly larger than scale, due to the necessity to get some already existing internal parts: IF I will go on,this will be the way to go. But to go down this track some other problems need a solution as well. Michael |

Still installing the pre-load software on the boards. Everything else is ready to go. Some of the first RC stuff I'd like to print is things like , coolers, shovels, jacks, and bolt on scale tow hooks... I'd love to print the rims you designed. They are so much more real the stuff you can buy. I'm hoping to be printing in a week??? |

There is a little update to be made: Chris from GCM shipped the rotors for my wheels, which turned out very nice, I have to admit. Looking forward holding these in my hands, then maybe there will be a loittle progress on the truck as well. But then, the wheather is too nice over here to work inside the house, and too much work outside the house as well. We'll see. Here is the thread where you can see the pictures: GCM Cast Mercedes G-Series 1.9 Wheels Michael |

OK, I have an update, but nothing much spectacular: I ordered some parts recently, which arrived yesterday: Since the planned shiftable transfer case obviously will never arrive (but its payed since may I think), I ordered the one from RC4WD. And with it came the lomg awaited scale shocks. That brought me to the point to check the possible setup to find a solution for the tranny being mounted to the frame. So again I mounted the bits an pieces to the frame, and tried to find a position for the tranny. It will be a bit further behind than in the pix, and slightly rotated, so that the front will be higher to get the shaft over the cross member. Just like in the real one. Then I wanted to see the body on it. With the parts still not ready, I thought I of my "mock-up" body, on which I mounted the front fender. This is how it will sit in the end: Not bad me thinks! With all the new parts around I needed to get on: The design for the rear axle parts to get ahoöd of the shoks, panhard rod and the radius arms was designed quite quick, and the, of course printed to see the result. So here you can see the idea that is supposed to work some day: The shock attachment on the top side is unsolved, as is the bearing of the radius arms. But with the right parts now attached to the axle I will be working on that next. Here were some more detail shots: Michael |
