What is the finish on the fuel cell? What is it constructed out of?

It's a styrene box coated with aluminun tape. I tried to imitate the weld seams by softening the edges of the box with styrene solvent and then shaped them with a hobby knife. The tape was so shiny so I weathered it a little by adding very thin black akryl paint all over it, let it dry a little, and then I washed it away with almost a dry brush, leaving paint where I felt it looked good.

Got some missing parts from RC4WD today, a steering wheel and winch hook.

What to do list to finish off this build:

- Replace the temporary all thread links with final ones. I'm thinking 4mm stainless rod with 4mm Traxxas rod ends.

- Steering linkage

- Paint the remaining panels

- Rebuild the shocks for smoother action.

- Wire her up

Do you have any full body pictures with the fuel cell in place?

Santa stopped by and now I've got a few more tires to choose from.

Baja Claws or Boggers?

Wow, thats a tough call, those are great tires. But I think the claws look better on this rig. IMO

I like the look of the Bogger thread pattern more but the Baja Claws have the right dimensions being a few millimeters wider.

Both tires feel really soft and sticky though and should perform well.

I like the claws, but it would be great looking with just about any tire.

I'll have to wait for spring and try both tires and choose the ones that perform better.

Got the car wired up today. I did try to get it done as clean as possible but this was still the result:

Lights up front:

And then out in the dark for a test drive. The first run revealed a slight torgue twist problem but that got solved with slightly heavier springs in the rear. No TQ issue any more.

It looks really nice with that white background. What is that white stuff? We don't see much of it here in TX.

It's called snow. Look it up:

Honestly, winter is way too long here. I guess I was born in the wrong country. I don't like winter at all.

Diggin how clean this is
How about steel wooling the faces of the fuel cell. May give it a more brushed aluminum look and may help accentuate the welded seem. The faces looks a bit too weathered as is.... just a suggestion

Thanks!

I agree that the fuel cell is too weathered compared to the rest of the truck. I''ll try steel wool on a piece of aluminum tape and see what happens.
