Default "RC4wd RCX Adventure Defender" D90 Project Build by Rckcrwlr

About a week ago I got a call from RC4wd. They challenged me to build a rig to show off at the 2011 RCX in Pomona, CA.

There were some rules to the agreement...
  1. It had to be done for the show on March 18th-20th - Duh?
  2. It had to showcase RC4wd Products.
  3. Get a Wish List to Racer4Life ASAP
So I decided on a D90 with all the accessories.

Here was my list:

Defender D90 Body: Z-B0008
RTR Gelande Scale Defender Chassis: Z-RTR0009
Tires: TBuster19
Extra Wheel: Z-Q0010
Snorkel: Z-S0247
Adventure Land Rover Defender Rack: Z-C0024
Gelande Side Steps: Z-S0242
Gelande Front Winch Bumper: Z-S0227
Bulldog 9300XT Wireless Winch: Z-E0014
Scale Lighting System: X-0503
King Kong XL Limited Edition Hook: Z-S0025
Viking Fairlead: Z-S0280
ARB Cover: Z-S0220

The body just showed up today so this weekend will start the preparations...

First shipment arrived today.

Here is a sneak peak...

Working on a paint scheme that will be a "show stopper". Not necessarily something you would see on the road...or could you???

More to come...

Nice. Now would this be considered a C1 rig depending on tire size? Nice start

Now don't start that...

C1, Class 1, Street Class, one of those.

Really though it is an RCX Class

I first wanted to change the tires that come with the RTR to the Trail Buster 1.9's.

They have a more aggressive tread and are slightly larger.

With the Tango Down Beadlocks, this was an easy change-out.

Mounting the Defender Adventure Roof Rack is very easy. The hardest part is putting the drill to this awesome body.

Everything lined up perfect. I would suggest that you do the fitting and drilling before painting the body.

3mm Hardware is needed.

When planning what was needed for this build, I knew that I had to take the Diff Cover to grease the Locker so I thought, ARB Diff Cover.

Disconnecting the Drive Shaft at the Axle Output makes it easy to apply the grease on the gears.

One of the real benefits of the Plastic TRex 60 Axles is no need for Loctite. With the RTR Kit, you also get another full set of Axle Cases just as a back up.

Love those Defenders! I keep looking at that body, but haven't clicked the add to cart button yet! Looks like RC4WD is going to have some badass rigs at RCX!
