| first scale build Tundra truggy
been following alot of the scale builds here and wanted to start a build of my own. please let me know what you all think so far good or bad. also any suggestions would be awesome. i started with the Boyer truggy chassis due to at that time i didnt know how to braze. did some styerne work on the back of the cab of the Tundra body. also some cutting of the fenders and bottom of the cab. the mounting for the cab was supposed to be bolt on but the chassis did not line up with the body holes. made my own skid plates and will probably put some rock guards on later. also i didnt like the way the pre made bumper fit on the truck so i learned how to braze. i cut the bottom of the bumper off and bent up a new one. tried to make it look like a ARB bumper you would see on a 1:1 . used some nuts for the d ring mounts. this is a work in progress and i know there is still a lot to do. i have all the honcho running gear that ive mocked up with this chassis that still needs to be reinstalled. |

That's a great job so far. I had a Tundra with the stock chassis. I miss it at times. This looks like another one I need to follow.

The cab back looks really good and nice job on jumping in and starting brazing. You're well on your way to becoming a "builder". Keep it up! |

The front bumper came out just fantastic! What did you do to make it? Just thin sheet metal and just bent it up how you wanted it and just brazed it together? Im looking to build a custom front bumper for my H2 hummer scaler.

thanks guys. the top half of the bumper was from the boyer chassis. i didnt like the way the tube portion went downwards. it didnt flow with this truck. it is just 22guage sheet metal bent up by hand by cutting slits on the backside where i wanted to make the bends. then drilled coolguy holes! i just ordered a wench from RPP to mount behind the bumper which will finish that off.

Nice work. I like the front bumper. Never been a huge fan of beefy front bumpers but the look goes well with that body. You have a nice project there! Jay |

I'm interested in how you are going to mount the body to the Boyer frame.

thanks everyone! @jmike:the boby mounting was not hard at all. the origional boyer mounts didnt work to be able to mount the tundra body. so i made my own. same way the boyer ones were. minus the rock sliders. i will add those later i think. i also had to trim the bottom of the body for a flush mount. also started to remount the axels and suspension today. what do you guys think about the proportioning of the axel length fom the body and height? i tried to make my links like the square tube ones for a 1:1. i used some plastic that i found at the hobby store locally. tapped the ends and used threaded suds. my intentions were to use allthread all the way through but the tap was too short and when threading the all thread it started to stress the plastic. i doubt these ones will last. gonna try to find metal square stock to replace the plastic. |

Nice stance The build is coming along great! You mentioned you didn't like the bumper so you "learned how to braze".... Looks like you learned fast! Clean work, well done. Going for a full interior too? |

gotta learn to braze now! that's a good looking truck, the wheelbase looks good for a cab of that size. i've seen square copper, aluminum, ans stainless tubing at a few hobby shops around here.

thanks again everyone. my brazing skills were self taught besides reading the forums here. which by the way are a lot of help. practiced on brazing nuts and bolts to sheet metal before i attacked the bumper. got my new tires yesterday. dont know if i like them. the baja mtz 4.19's. they dont have an aggressive side wall and makes the truck look like a pavment pounder. thought about stretching the irok 1.7's on the 1.9 rims. any suggestions?i will try to post some pics tomorrow.
