Default wheelinjp's c2 comanche build

I am using the running gear from my standard cab hilux scx10. Gotta redo some of the tubework to make it my own, and do some kind of drop bed.
scx10 chassis
axial axles w/ mip cvd's, vanquish alum inner and outer c's
rcbro's cms kit w/ hitec 7955
axial tranny w/ rrp all metal gears
30t BrOOd power
tekin fxr w/ cc-bec
3r winch
2200 3c battery
underdrive rear
pitbull 1.9 tires on Integy 1.9 alum beadlocks w/ C.I. lil duece 4.7 heavy foams
new, changed and updated tubework by ME.
difuser's old comanche body and tubework. it was cut into several pieces, I just threw it together to start dialing it in.

im removing the bumper mounted spare mount and making metal shock hoops with a spare mount integrated in bed.

probably going to trim the fender flares off for tire clearance. I like the comanche look with trimmed off flares.

damn no rcc love for the comanche huh? haha. ok did a lil more today. I got the rear shock mounts done and the front drop bed mount in. I also removed the bumper mounted spare tire carrier. it now mounts to the shock towers. I still need to finish the drop bed, and tie the sliders into the frame.
with the spare in

without the spare

minus tire carrier

damn I have been just going to town on this rig. I have been inspired. I think I was experiencing hilux overkill. I got the sliders tied into the chassis and filled the opening of the slider with mesh. Also made tabs for the floor to mount up at the back. I made a front bumper too but am not sure I like it. It doesnt seem to match the style of tubework at the rear bumper. Im thinking of changing it to smaller tube for the grill guard' I just figured if you know comanche's you know you have to protect that front fiberglass valance(grill surround) also drug it outside for a few pics.
naked chassis shot

trimmed off the fender flares. kinda miss them, but no going back now.

drop bed sitting in there

with the fenders trimmed it almost looks like a j10 pickup. I wish it was one haha.

front bumper pic. the bumper seems too bulky. I think I will build a smaller one.

I like it! Looks way better without the flares. I kinda like the front bumper. Might look better with a larger diameter bumper tube. Are you going to have any tube fenders? The bumper would look better if you tied them into something. Keep it up, this is a nice (and different ) build.

thanks tim. I did keep the bumper the same but added some details. no tube fenders in the plans. I might mock some up, it could use the points haha. im starting the interior cage next as well.

that's actually exactly why i haven't ordered one yet.. it doesn't appear to be tall enough for its scale.. length i can work with but if it comes out looking slightly pancaked... No Go!

Ok it is almost ready to comp. all I have left is lites and drop bed. mark(lets go jeep) did a great job sandblasting the tubework so paint was pretty simple. got the interior cage fitted and the interior installed. Also mounted the body on the screws and hooked up the electronics. I am very happy with the results of the rig once assembled. still havent painted the body yet though.

interior cage

big ol front bumper to protect that fiberglass front valance(if it were a real one) I also added mesh on the front bumper too.

thanks tim I think???? haha. it looks bad because of the tool box but the only places missing floor are under the back of the spare, and for shock towers. I still had to make side walls and fenderwells. . It did drive very well today, I didnt but it worked good. Had a blast with the Warcrc crew on The Slab in the rain, snow, sleet, and sunshine. Typical washington weather.

Ok this rig drives nice. the low stance is super stable and predictable. no complains(except a steering issue I forgot this running gear already had). Its maiden voyage was at Warcrc's scale comp at The Slab sunday. Justin (and his girl) took these awesome shots. Thank you man. My crappy poser shots from my cell arent worth posting. These are.
