Vwerks jeep jk8 recon build

well with the 1984 toyota gone and the scale 4x4 GTG just days away..its time to get to the build i have wanted to do sense i saw this.

a very cool jeep and what i was looking for. have wanted to do a jk for some time but just didnt see one that grab me like this one did.

i sent a email too VWERKS for some pictures and found some on the net.

these where the best and cover all angles. i will replicate this as much as i can.... does any body know where i can get a .50 cal in 1/10 scale? im looking.
picking up the jeep jk from walmart tonight on the way home they had 4 3 red and one blue. blue one is calling me...lol
the shoping list so far
scx10 chassis rails (it may change)
rc4wd k44's
rc4wd 4 link mounts
trail finder 2 transfer case
trail finder 2 speed transmission
wheels? still looking
tires proline flat irons soft compond
.50 cal browning machine gun....(yea right not found yet and may be made from scratch.
7.62 mm herstal m240......(yea right too... but is on the real and mounts on the right side)
and thats just the start... stay tuned

thats one bad @$$ jeep i wouldnt mine make just a soft top for my proline jk.....are you goin to the scale comp at lrc i noticed u was located in athens but dont know if its the athens im thinkg of lol...if so I CANT WAIT....LOL

well i got a few parts in now. been so busy, it has been so hard to get any thing done. just seems like there is always something happing or having to do that takes time from what i like to do.
any ways here's the unmolested new bright jeep jk body, brand new from walmart. still unsure about shassis, but this may be a start. HOT RACING all aluminum chassis parts. new scx10 frame rails and the 4 link mounts from rc4wd.

now to put this together i have a brand new screwz scx10 stainless steel screw kit.

and now we have a complete alloy chassis.

waiting for more parts. any body seen any wheels that look close to these?

not quite, mine is a extended version, look close.

well heres another update my friend!

well it's coming slowly, with building 2 airplanes and some rc body painting i have been busy. but have maneged to get some progress.
nice body...well it will be again. now its time for some work.

body has been disasembled down to a single piece of plastic.

well i removed all the bumpers, flares, side steps and the tag,( it will be relocated)


well i did a dry run and came up short, the scx10 chassis is not long enough.


so i am working on getting some rails made to fit this build. the rear will be extended just like it the 1.1 picture. so i decided to work on the new fender flares.
first step is make the inner well where the new flare will screw too. making them looking just like the 1.1 see top pictures.

rear wheel well. i left i little extra and will trim it more later.

front well will be trimed more later.

inner shot the lip at the top will be removed and put back after the body is extended.

and heres the first flare, still working on it. these are a pain to get even and straight.

i had mention a .50 cal machine gun...well i found one! will make a few changes but it saves a lot of work.

i could not stand it and had to do a mock up WOW a picture can say a 1,000 words what do it say NOW?

got a nice picture of the inside now and it will have all details!

just moving along at a snails pace...got my rc4wd 4 link kits and my k 44's.
i wasn not happy with the scx10 chassis was to short and was to much work to change it to my build. so i sat down and drawed one out....and these are what i have now. the where hydro cut by a friend. they turned out GREAT!

now a dry run sort of...to get a idea of them under my jk

now they go the length i needed. scx10's came up short.

and they are longer in the rear so i can extend the rear body panel as in the 1:1

and now we have a good foundation to build this jk on. next is measure and measure and measure one more time and then drill some holes to start mount up the suspension.
