| 1.9 scx10 XJ / Cherokee... The build begins.
After much deliberating about what new project to build with my new space.. after finally getting everything out of storage and reorganizing things to see what I've got I decided to build an XJ. We recently obtained a 1:1 with a little 4 inch and 32"s. The inspiration The new space (Good thing I took a picture it will never look this clean again.)? And the first Pile of parts... the donor rig, and a bucket of miscellaneous parts and hardware that will no doubt be needed. Last edited by DSchulten88; 10-03-2012 at 01:42 PM. |

That's a great looking XJ! I have been wheeling a built-up TJ for a few years, but I've always loved the look of a lifted XJ. I can't wait to see how the SCX10 turns out

| Re: 1.9 scx10 XJ / Cherokee... The build begins. Update.. Still waiting for my body to arrive at the crawl space here in Colorado. However I have managed to put together some of the chassis and suspension components. Obviously still working on the links considering I don't have a body this is going to be a tentative roller set up. Other than that I guess I'm still waiting for me to be able to afford MIP drive shafts, still need to purchase a higher torque steering servo, steel gears for the tranny, aluminum rear lockouts front knuckles and chubs... The list goes on and on of course as they always do.. Goodies thus far include STRC wraith lowers front and rear, AX10 blue alloy uppers, RC4WD front bumper, rock rails, and rear bumper, black 10 hole steelies, 110mm dual rate shocks, pitbull tires, Crawler innovations 4.5 inch 2 stage foams... I think right now my lowers are obviously too long using the RC4WD aluminum rod ends I may end up having to use the traxxas plastic ones unfortunately. | Re: 1.9 scx10 XJ / Cherokee... The build begins. Oh yeah.. rear links were crazy long.. chopping, hacking, dremeling, filing, measuring.. hours later.. shortened everything up about 10mm total. Started the front (cut before dry fit) almost all mocked up. Body comes in Friday.. need to find the patience in myself to mount the other 2 pit bulls.. and... need.. more.. metal. MIPs, knuckles, chubs, lockouts, OD front gears, hardened rears, tranny gears... yadah yadah. |

Alright.. I managed to get all of the links done and the wheelbase figured out finally. The tentative wheelbase as it sits now is about 12 1/4-3/8ish (still waiting on the body). The workspace got a much needed mid build clean. As there were lots of aluminum shavings and chunks of link everywhere, small chunks of set screws and such... And now it's time to remember to keep calm and get these bad boys mounted. Hopefully start the body tomorrow. Will post some roller flex shots after a couple hours fighting with these wheels and tires. Thanks for looking/watching.. sorry I'm really not much good at any of this. |

Soo I got the body but I'm still playing with the wheelbase.. I saw some dude running a 12.4" wheelbase.. I'm almost bang on at 12" and it seems too long still. Anyone that's got a Cherokee, could you measure your wheelbase for me? I don't wanna get too short of a wheelbase going on but I also want the tires to flex up into the wheelwells and look.. you know.. scale. Any insight would be great. |
