| 'Clexo The Burbanator'
Been wanting to do a 'Bowtie' for a while now and I managed to score a Rather nice Clod Body off the Bay last week. When it turned up it was almost too nice to cut up Almost Anyway I started by Doing 'Dezmoons' arch mod to gain some much need clearance up front. A tidy mod which can be found here:- The Dezmoon truggy I Also Pinched the front by just a touch whilst I was at it. The grill wasn't a Bowtie so I cut the middle out and am rebuilding that slightly differently. ignore the Paint it was left over from my FJ so its good enough for a Guide. Hood got a Skin of styrene over the top to hide the Blower hole. Also slightly reprofiled the front edge. Oops nevermind I only felt guilty for a couple of seconds!! Think this is going to work quite nicely, I sourced a Cage from an Exo on the Bay for a fistfull of dollars. I have the Ligthtbar and rear Rad and Light bezel also coming. I borrowed the axle out of my 38 Build off truck to get a look at how its going to sit. It will eventually get all the running gear out of that truck unless I can win that build off prize........ The Exo Cage is almost a Perfect Fit for the Clod Body. Width is Perfect and it sits at a nice height. I will have to remove the very back part that sticks out but its getting some more bodywork round the back anyway. More very soon........... |

I was surprised I did no homework measurement wise and thought i'd have to narrow it. Turns out its a Great Fit. Suppose its the green light for lots of other cool builds. | |

Progress Now the Original Plan was have it look like a Cab with a Seperate bed then I thought lets have it looking like a 4 door Saloon. Inspiration I suppose stolen from a Certain Ricky. Stretched out the Rear Arches to start Got one side nearly done and also shortened the Tailgate and cut out the Rear Light Apertures. Got the Trim Mouldings and Door lines done on one side so far. |

It's Progress Time. I have the 2 sides and Tailgate pretty much as straight as i can get them. I got the top edge sorted out added the Fuel Filler cap as well. I also started on the inside, I'm in two minds whether to go all out or just keep it simple?? I do want to use this for Class 2 so I dont really want to add too much weight to the body if I can help it. But then I do want all the little details to make it Stand out. I'll sleep on it. I also finally managed to source the Driver Figure that has eluded me for so long. Its been done twice before but he's really hard to find in England. I wont spoil the surprise just hope he fits!! The Cage bolts to the floor of the body so it can be removeable if needed. |
