| Project 1.9 MB G55 Truck: "Rock Baller"
So one night Tremmel and I were texting each other pics of parts and upcoming projects, I think we were trying to work out a trade or something, and he mentioned he had one of the hard to find MB SUV bodies. It just so happened I had just aquired one as well. Then he showed me a pic of a truck converted one that was 1:1. I wanted the body just bc of its scarcity but haven't really been a fan of the SUV style. But when he showed me a pic of the pickup truck version it was love at first sight. I knew it was on. A few months later I saw that he had started his bad ass build converting his G55 to a pickup. I thought it would be fun to start mine as well. I give full credit to him for the inspiration. Anywho here we are. My approach has begun. I have had some frustrating luck lately in the hard body dept so I am taking a different approach by using fiberglass reinforcement to prevent splitting cracking ect so easily. Been thinking about it for a long time but this is my first approach with fiberglass. The inspiration: This is the start. No body filler or correction yet. Initially I just laid some styrene rough cut and fibered behind it, then let the sanding begin. Last edited by Desert Rc; 03-25-2014 at 12:21 PM. |

I am glad you have started on your version of the truck. I will definitely be watching where you take it. Are you going for the long bed like on the original or something totally off the grid? I shortened the bed's rear end to help with crawling angles.

I will be running a short box....that long wheelbase on the original is just being to be high and center.

Are you going to run an interior? If so, are you going with a pre-fab or a custom interior?

Narrowed. I was a bit peaved. Worked do hard to mark everything square but the rear of the cab came out a wee bit wide. Oh well a little more work but it's square now.
