Default gottorque's baXJa

Since building my 1.9 Wraith several months ago, my poor SCX10 has sat collecting dust. During that time I toyed with with the idea of putting a NB TJ body on it and also a random hardbody off a walmart rc. After discussing ideas with my buddy he reminded me that going fast...and hard bodies don't particularly mix well. I am an avid off road fan, especially KOH and Baja, so why not build something that "roosts dirt and goes fast"

So I spent some time reading through the NAXJA/Petty Cash EMC XJ build and drooled (just a bit). Initially I thought i would do a replica of the NAXJA Cherokee with the same blue and yellow paint scheme, but decided not to.

Enough yammering

WB set...rear links are plastic ones i had laying around but will get replaced eventually.

CMS plate fabbed...not perfect but it works. No bump steer and have full range on the suspension/lock to lock turning.

For power I decided to give the Castle 3800kv SCT system a shot. I can hear it already (its not sensored and will cog...bla bla bla)
Who said it was a crawler

and a quick pearl white paint job later (with paint I already had)
Rock Sliders are BPC and work great with the XJ body

Looks good next to my Raptor (yes, the raptor is a crawler/G6 rig)

And a shot from its first run. Was only able to get in about 15 minutes but will run a couple packs through it tomorrow.

Sure, I might get flak for this, but hey I'm down to try new things. If it breaks, Ill fix it...easy as that. But regardless I hope to have lots of fun with this rig.

And yes it does roost the dirt quite well

Quick build specs...Scx10 frame with built Creeper axles, SCX trans stuffed with RRP gears, Integy tires on Axial beadlocks. Castle 3800kv system on 2s

Got to run it a bit more yesterday

Had it loaded on the trailer for the local 4th of July parade

Then took it out to a dirt lot and opened it up for the first time. My buddy was doing video so when he gets it edited Ill post it here.

Havin a blast with it so far. Despite minimal suspension tuning, it really does float through the bumps at speed and is actually very cool to watch. Drivetrain is holding up great and the stiffer tires help keep the truck stable at speed.

the 4 pole has lots of torque, but its not a sensored setup so its kinda jumpy. But this rig is set up for baja/desert rather than crawling so being sensorless isnt a big deal.
