Default My first jeep build

Well I have some axial front end, rear end, tranny, and a NB Jeep body, so I think I will try my first 1.9 scale build. This is my second build, last one was a Twin Hammer build that was a short one.
I'm going to try and build some of my own parts so may have alot of questions for the experts on here.

Here is the body I'm starting with.

Thanks for the offer on the cage, but I think I'm going to try and build one, we will see how it goes thanks for the link, I will look it over. Ya my other hobby is woodworking, so lots of dust. I think I might clear coat it like that, what do you think?
I want to put xr steering on this so here are some picks of that.

It is just a cheap Harbour Frieght, but it is OK for this kind of work.

The wheel base on the NB body is just a little over 10", and I would like to have it at least 11". I don't want to do a complete comp cut so I think this is what I'm going to do.
 photo IMG_5062.jpg

The doner body is one that I cut the front off of for my Twin Hammer build. I think the best way to do this is cut the back off the black body, and do the same on the silver body, but make the cut a 1" longer on the silver body.

Got my axles into a set-up jig this morning. I'm going to shoot for about 11.5" for a wheel base. photo IMG_5071.jpg

Also got the fender flairs trimmed.

I want to add a little anti-squat to this rig, so I'm making some new hangers for the upper links. I want to use as much stainless steel as I can on this build, so off to Goodwill to find some BQ tongs. Found these!

They have a nice little C channel.

Next is the links. You would think that with all this Lunsford Ti I could find all the size links I need. But no, I had to use all thread for the front lowers.

I finished up the bumper and drill it for the winch.

 photo IMG_5086.jpg

Soldered the bumper to the chassis and started the protection tubbing for the winch and lights.

Well it has been awhile, so thought I should update this before I move on to my next build.

Made a tranfer case.

Moved the motor and tranny up front
. photo IMG_5108.jpg

Maybe a cowl for the hood.

 photo IMG_5121.jpg

I didn't want the shocks poking through the passenger compartment so I will try some cantilever shocks.

Starting to look like a trail jeep.

Crawling on the rocks in my yard. Actually climbs pretty good considering this is it's first time out.

Well this is the last post for this build. Being my first 1.9 build I wish I could have recieved a little more input from RCC readers but I guess it didn't deem alot interest. Anyway I recieved a offer I couldn't refuse and sold it.
