Surprisingly, they brazed out that way. No, I haven't been tinning, but that seems like a good idea, would take a lot longer though.

Thanks

Brazed those front end pieces in. Need to work on the axles now.

Haha Greg, I bet you do.

Started a poster board mockup up of an axle truss which will include link mounts and shock mounts. So far got the main section, and the mounts on one side. other than the servo mount, the rear axle will just be mirrored. I've decided to just make these from some 18ga steel I already have, for strength and some extra weight on the axles.

Looking at these pics, I realized I have the shock mount on the wrong side of the link (too high, and to far inboard) I'll fix that tomorrow. This is why I do mockups, haha.

Posterboard... Can't believe I never thought of using that! That's actually a pretty good idea. Beats wasting steel that's for sure lol.

Looking great man! Awesome job brazing for sure!

And i like the Dodge! you dont see to many of them around. I wish a good hard body was available, but the lexan looks good.

Worked on the axle truss mock-up a little. Got both lower link mounts and the shock mounts mocked up, need the servo and upper links now.

Set the axle, with the lower links, and the scaler powerstrokes off SuperDrty under the chassis, all kinds of clearance underneath, after the axle gets clocked to move the driveshaft upwards anyway.

Already had 2 F250's, and the '57 Chevy, figured I needed to round out the Big 3, haha. Plus I've liked the look of this body since Proline came out with it, and I'm a sucker for single cab trucks, since my daily driver is one.

I'll have it at the next winter crawl with me, no matter what stage of the build I'm in.

Just got back from picking up some hardware, and more MAPP gas, as my current tank is just about done. I'm going through a lot more of it on the aluminum than I did with the brake line on the last build.

I'll be doing some reworking on the truss mockup, as when I clock the axle more, it raises the links higher than I like, and the shocks too far forward for what I want.

I also want to get my lower link mounts on the chassis. I'll have more pics later

Didn't get as much done tonight as I had hoped, moved where I was working after a quick cleanup, and then got distracted by the Supercross race.

Got the lower link mounts on the chassis side made, but not brazed in yet.

Tabs are brazed in, but I got a lottle too much heat in the one, and it started to deform, the hole locations are still good though, so I'm rolling with it. at this point, the thinner tabs are becoming a royal pita, haha

The wire was wrapped tight around another screw, and served as a coupler for the screws on both sides to hold the spacing somewhat square.

Set a set of upper links in the general area they'll be. With how I want to mount the servo though, I may need to use a bent link on the one to the left in the pic, I'll have to wait until I mock that in place to find out for sure though

I'm digging this build. Really cool that you're able to braze this outta aluminum.

Took the truss mock-up off the front axle and traced it onto the 18ga steel twice, since the truss for the rear will just be a mirror of the front. Once these are made and mounted, I'll mock-up the servo mount on the front.

The upper link mounts will just be a thick tab centered on the top of the truss, so there wasn't much need to mock it up, I'll braze it in, and that will allow me to set the upper link mounts on the chassis.

Well, got the rear truss cut out, folded, and tacked together, the Front I have about 75% cut out. It took me about an hour to get that rear truss as far as it is, I'll braze it together soon though.

I threw the rear axle under the truck, and threw the rear shocks up there too. I just used some zip ties to hold the shocks and upper links on the chassis, and the rear half is a semi roller.

How did you get such clean lines on the sheet metal?
