Default Gelande II Cruiser - Kept the original color

Maybe it's a cop out because paint work is difficult, but as I built my Cruiser the color it comes in really grew on me. I'm new to building these kits, and this still needs a few additions, but here are a few pictures of the Cruiser left with just the color of the plastic on the body. I did add some "grime" with a wash.

I love looking at the photos from some of the seasoned builders on here, and like the weathering I've seen. I'm just not at that level yet.

Suggestions for appropriate front locking hubs and rear license plate light would be appreciated.
Indeed, any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks for looking.

Nicely done! I like the exterior illumination. The molded color closely matches what i believe was called Dune.

This is great! I almost did the same thing! The color wasn't bad and the scuffs wouldn't wear off the paint. Plus...take the scuff marks and dirty them...instant weathering!
P.S. - How did you color your light lenses? I see dying with RIT, but i cheaped out and used a Sharpie on the inside of the lenses. Worked pretty good, but not sure how it will hold up to time and water.

For the lenses I used Tamiya acrylic X26 clear orange and X27 clear red. I painted them on the inside of the lens. They look really nice, and the RC4WD lighting kit comes with amber and red leds.

I like the idea of weathering the scuff marks. Thanks!

After viewing some Land Cruiser photos on the internet, I moved the license plate to a more appropriate place. I temporarily attached a black piece to serve as the license plate light. I hope to find something more realistic.

I'm liking the unpainted plastic, looks great! What did your use as a grime? It looks very realistic.

I used Testor's CreateFX black acrylic wash. I got it at Michael's. Very reasonable price.

I installed a pair of SSD scale locking hubs. The installation method and installation tool seem to be strong.

I am waiting to receive a pair of RC4WD metal side plates for the exterior steps. I had trouble deciding between the silver and the black. Decided to go with silver. We'll see how they look.

I am also waiting to receive a set of hubcaps.

I got the metal side plates from RC4WD. I am very happy with the color, texture and fit. These things have the smallest screws and nuts I have ever worked with.

Those look good! Must be a new product? I hadn't seen them before, but their website is a tad disorganized and their search feature is horrible. Why does the exact name typed in show as the last product on the screen? Maybe it's really just an ingenious marketing ploy...hmmmm....

They are new for RC4WD. They are made by CChand. I had seen them on ebay, shipped from China for a substantially higher price. RC4WD is also carrying the "badge" set for the Cruiser made by this company for quite a bit less than the ebay price.

A couple more "running" shots taken at Daniels Park, Colorado. Those of us who live on the front range are fortunate to have this beautiful place to run our trucks.
