Painted and installed the Yeah Racing front portal boxes (some holes were not threaded deep enough for the supplied hardware and had to tap one of the holes but otherwise no problems with install). One thing to note, they hit the C at 43 degrees so you lose 2 degrees each direction. I will get them back by clearancing the C.
Front body mount, servo winch installed, battery/electronics trays and ridiculous rear body mount. It only weighs .75oz (started out weighing 2.75oz) so...

The rig has been together for a week and I was completely disappointed with the RC4WD Trail Riders. I was hoping they would work much better than they did. The RC4WD Enduro wheels were great but narrowed the track width too much so I swapped them out for beadlocks from The Scale Shop, 1.9 Rock Monsters (my favorite wheels in R/C and 1:1). Wrapped them in Proline TSL SX XL's with the help of some Dark Soul Racing beadlock rings with custom foams. I wasn't a fan of the bare aluminum so I shot them with some automotive I had laying around that I used on the spokes of my mag wheels. Of course they will get the appropriate scale hardware.

That looks great, I really dig the new wheel and tire combo. Think some of your round lights would make good headlights?

Nonsense! Chuck the part in the headstock and put a tool post on the bed. Or put a headstock on the table 4th axis style and mount lathe bits on the main headstock. I use my little mill as a lathe all the time.

Thanks man, they stayed on through a good thorough thrashing yesterday. Can't say the same for the stock Axial links though. on several occasions, the link pulled straight out of the rod ends. I was told that they were 4mm but they are not. When I looked into the end of the rod end, the threads barely marked the inside. The threads on several I checked were between 3.64mm and 3.78mm. Oh well, ordered some 4mm Ti rod to make new links.

Thanks for the props, I miss the old days of ghetto fabbing but I sure like all the cool stuff you can get now!

Agreed, I used my mini mill when I had it for turning down stuff before I got a lathe.

Thanks John! I couldn't resist the temptation when I found out the stubby would fit. BTW, got some issues with the brushed motor getting hot and probably could use a freshening up. Need to send it in one of these days...

As much as I like the look of the fenders, they caused problems in a few situations where things got tight. I decided to narrow them. I didn't want to just cut them be ause i loke the look of the rolled edge so I sectioned them and will reattach them with M2 button heads and shoe goo for good measure.

Im liking it but once the inner fenders are in, I think it will look much better. The addition of some Maddogrc light pods on the front fenders should help hide the seam.

... or maybe these O.G. Handbros triple LED pods. Hmmm....

Well done Chino . How about the gearing, is it low enough with the spur and pinion only ?

I have saved up trx4 parts for some time and are ready to start building and your rear axle is great for making it underdrive. Will the center housing handle the twisting from the portals ?

Ah, the gearing.... after reading this, I realized that I never showed what the rear end was. I'm running an SSD Diamond housing with SCX10.2 gears and modified to accept TRX-4 portals.

After reading Bolt's post above, I realized I didn't post what I was running for a rear end.

Here's what I've got going on. SSD Diamond housing for the Axial SCX10.2 modified to fit the TRX-4 portals. This gives me a decent gear split between the front and rear equivalent to od/ud.... and no need for a traditional transmission.

First pic is the rear of this truck. 2nd is of the unused front that will be installed under another build later.

Thats slick!

Just 5 or 7 total lights. Got an odd amount because one of the tripples was for the front of an ebike and it also worked out evenly for the trade.
