Thanks bud, I've been painting bodies since the early 90s, that's how I use to support my racing habit! So having said that it's hard for me to airbrush the normal way.

Just a little tidbit on the bumper. To add some strength to it I drilled out the SS rod to attach the two mounts.

Thanks Casey, I may be getting old but I haven't slowed down much.

Now to a little more tech. I'm not sure if anyone else has thought of trying this but it is a easy way to add 4oz of weight on the axle. Started with this....

And ended up with this!

Not a bunch of added weight, but it's a direct fit option and comp legal.

But along with this I'm adding a total of 5 ounces down low and up front. A couple steps closer to making it my own.

And I think if I clearance the axles so they don't bind I going to get a few more degrees of steering. We can always use more steering, RIGHT?

I found more steering with Beef Shanks. I did also get a set of the SSD in gunmetal for the SCX10ii, both added steering over those stock knuckles .
Loving this!

Not a big fan of theirs, When the ascender first came out I started making weighted tubes for the ascender axle and next thing I know my design was borrowed and put into production. But I love SSd products!

Thanks for the kind words Justin, I pulled all the Masking off the body. I'm happy with how it came out.

Nice "hair cut"! If you want you could run top on or off. Knights Custom posted a picture of his with earth magnets attached so that the top could be put back on.

When I cut mine off, I cut it so I could put it back on if I wanted a different look. I just haven't attached the magnets yet. I need to get that done!

Love the Candy Rootbeer color!

CAGE,
Some think that cage building takes special skills and I'm here to tell you it's "fake news". Yes I've been doing it for a few years but with a few hand and or power tools most any of you can do it. If you want to know more about building with tubing or rod just ask!

A and B pillars for both sides.

I use a side head grinder with a thin cut off wheel clamped in a vise to cut most all my tubing and rod.

I do most all my soldering on fire brick and a third hand is one of the many ways I hold parts in place.

The front and rear cross pieces on the drivers side are in place and I'm squaring them up before I solder passenger side pillars.

Several hours later and getting close to having most of the soldering done. On this 1/8" tube I used tape and gravity to hold it in place.

Test fitting on the interior.

More later.

Ernie

Now this is what I aspire to do. For now, it's just files, bench vises, a flux core feeder, and a grinder.

Absolutely gorgeous work!

Great look!!!
The weight will be a spring killer. Any idea if your staying with the incision shocks?

So I don't know if you noticed, but your just 35 miles down the road from me? May be we can compare notes sometime. I read your build thread today and your doing some pretty nice work!

Thanks for the kind words Chris!! I think you need to be more descriptive in your analysis of the build though!
You should see it in Apple Valley if all plans go ok. I will be sure and share you sentiment with Santa!

I bet your going to be doing good to get your rigs done before May!!! So this old retired fart will take care of the details.
And I just wanted to tell thanks again for your service to our country.

Ernie

Love the Candy Rootbeer color!

I saved the top, I just need to see if it will clear the cage.

A few more picks of the cage.

Tube work is my favorite part of doing a new build.

You can see that I went with the stock rear bumper.

You can see the detail a little better with the cage off the body.

I was trying to keep the weight down on the tube work and still have some style and my own design, but I keep getting the voice in my head yelling WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! "Not complete, design not balanced, you can do better". So going to look at it tomorrow and see what I can do to shut that guy up!

Thanks for looking, and any comments or suggestions are welcome!
Ernie
