Default CODYBOYS ASCENDER "Modifications"

Next thing to do is get the new shocks a little lower in the rear.

So now I will see if some of you sharp eyed builders can pick out the next mod I did. I don't think any one else has done this one yet!!!

You reversed the tranny tray to bolt it on the stock battery tray mounting points!

Your rear link setup looks different! Lower links have an nice curve and the upper links have a new mounting place !

I just made the same modification to the upper links.. thanks for the tip!

if the transmission is on stock location and you have 2 speed gear box, the upper link gets really close to the shift linkage, but some grinding there helped.

Now im going to test it, hopefully it helps with the climbing and torgue twist.

Good job guys!!! If your not going to use the stock battery position this is a great way to get those rear lower links up a little. It also clocks the rear axle to get a better pinion angle. I replace the front and rear lower links with bent titanium.
I bought a used 2 speed tranny on EBAY for $50, and replaced all the gears with metal. I still need to find a place for the shifting servo.

Here is the body I'm using, think I will list the stock one on Ebay.

Got the front motor plate reshaped and mounted.

Mounted the transfer case and installed MIP drive shafts. I'm still not sure what shocks I will run on this, I want to get the COG down by running about 40% droop on the shocks.

Got most of that done last week, and spent the weekend mounting the interior and weathering the body.

Next will be a cage, rock sliders, and front & rear bumpers.

How do you like this kit compared to the others? SCX10 and the TF2

I have been RCing since the early "80" and have probably put together 50 kits. Out of all those this is one of the better ones to I have built. As a scaler the quality is top notch. Yes, there have been some issues but for a new product it is well thought out.

I worked on the cage today, and this is what I have so far.

Pulled it out to clean it up a little. I wanted to put a bit of a different spin on the design, what do you guys think????

Back in the body, and on the chassis.

I need to build the spare tire carrier next. Not sure if I want to do a swing out or swing down!??? Any input on what would look best??
