| XC Police Land Rover
I'll bet bloody few of you have ever seen or heard of the BBC Scotland TV series Hamish Macbeth, but I have, and I've decided to replicate PC Macbeth's Land Rover (the Defender from the second series, for those few of you who have seen it). Got a hardbody from Unimoger and stretched the wheelbase of my XC to match it. The wheels from the Dire Wolf Hi-Lift project (home-brewed, don't look for them commercially) look perfect under there after a coat of dirty white paint. I plan to move the radio box so I can keep the interior. The body still needs paint and the rear side windows filled in. And I gotta work on Ben's Landy body, too |

I've Googled the hell out of it and came up empty. I might be able to do a screen capture from a DVD, but the wife has the only puter with a DVD drive and she's on it all the time with her writing. White body, blue horizontal stripe outlined in orange, blue POLICE letters on the rear wings, and generally dirty and neglected-looking. Blue lights on top. Empty spare-tyre bracket on the bonnet. Let me Google some more and see if I can come up with a pic... |

I just built a full functioning police CC-01 based rig last night. Full light bar on the roof and siren that operates off the radio.

Jason, got a radar gun and dash cam on it, too? Brandon, you should see the one on the rollback truck: 14 inches |

I know the pic I linked to is an old Series, but there's damned few pics of Hamish's Rover on the web. I also need a 1/10 scale Westie to ride shotgun |

Now the body's mounted, and the pinstriping's done (thank God) Compared to that, the police lettering was a walk in the park. The rear body mount is an aluminum channel that sockets into the stock XC posts. Between that and the rest of the chassis, I had to forgo the full interior, unless I wanted to jack it up like an old-school monster, and, uh, no. I had to cut the dashboard as it is. The Land Rover and Defender decals are leftovers from an HPI decal sheet. The ones that come with the body read Jortop Famous Car |

Kaetwo, don't look too closely at the roof, or you'll see where my mad skills gave in to my mad laziness It's all done now except for the weathering. Just have to load up the airbrush and spritz it with some earth tones. The Mrs. was kind enough to donate a top from a bottle of hairspray to make the flasher Racer, it's got a 35t lathe, plenty fast for one of these. Last edited by microgoat; 03-04-2007 at 12:44 PM. |
