Default C1 84 Yota

Been gathering the essentials to start a past due build. I have been wanting to get my hands on the new xtracab RC4WD body and ended up snagging one off a fellow member on RCC. Bonus the body came with a set of nice printed mounts for the VP frame. I just happen to have a nice Vanquish frame and a new VFD Pro trans to pair with. Dang this thing is building itself. Anyhow…….. Lets get this one started.

Everyone has seen a VFD assembly so I will spare you and jump straight to mock up.

Ignore the blue rings. Stainless is in route. That bed is full of itself. Out comes the knife.

Mock up with new stainless rings. Waiting on the MEK and bed scraps to create some liquid plastic.

More to come. Waiting on rod ends

Thank you gents. Much to do. I managed to get the build linked up on some mock links. I can tell you that this body with a lower ride height equals some decent wheelbase. I’m sitting right below 12 3/4” in the pic and need to stretch the rear slightly still. I also welded the bed together with some CA glue tacks. Looks good for no slurry added.

Looking great BananaClip! These bodies are some of my favorite; there’s so many ways you can build one.

Great tire and wheel choice for the body. This is going to be sweet!

Well that’s awesome! I actually own an 84 xtra cab SR5. I’ve been building it slowly over the years.

My brother. I’ve always been fond of the little yotas. The second gen is my favorite due to the xtra cab and the overall wheelbase. I’m talking 1.1 rigs. I agree with the wheels being right. I was honestly considering dropping to 1.5’s but the LURC TR is so iconic. Wish I could afford a set for my real 84. Send me the bed. I will chop it for you.

That bob looks great! It almost looks like a factory body seam.

Thank you sir. I LURC wheels. I’m a fan of the KM3 as well. However they are actually bothering me. Yes they would be perfecto for trail duty but the tire bulge is swallowing up the profile of the wheel. I just pulled the trigger on some fresh RC4WD KM3’s and CI foams. I RPP to. I’ve owned the RC4WD version and they are more realistic by far and will give a cleaner look. The rc4wd is a 4.09 as opposed to the current PL 4.19. I will have them in a few days so we will see if the gamble was worth it.

I did manage to get the wheelbase and track centered. The 84 will have a nice stance when I get time to build some Drav’s.

Thank you sir. I was able to add the first layer of slurry today. I also built and installed some new Dravtech’s. This is current ride height. Lastly I swapped those 4.19 pro lines over to a set of TSS Monster’s to add an optional set of rollers for the little Toyota.

Default C1 84 Yota

I ended up going with the single stage CI (cwr -3007) foam. They are the prefect height out of the bag for the rc4wd KM3 but they are a tad wide. I pulled out the belt sander shaved down the sidewall and ended up pretty happy with the outcome. The new tire paired with the LURC wheels equal a super clean and way more scale look. Your not sacrificing to much height over their 4.19 counterpart.

I mean…………..

Anyhow. Next is some sanding on the dried slurry and some tasteful sanding around the fender opening’s. More to come

Thank you my brother. I’m thrilled with build so far. I’m planning on adding separate steel rock sliders and some bumpers in the near future. I might play with the Dravtech’s spring rates a little but man it cycles smooth
