Onward!

The Axial axle, aluminum lockouts, straight axle. Waiting for wideners:

@ wheelbase (14" +/- .5")

So, I thought about how to attach the front end to a tube chassis, and eventually concluded that using the Slash 4x4 chassis (part of it) would be easier, lighter, and provide the front skid and steering bellcranks with their stock molded braces. Definitely the right choice!

I'll only need the frontish: (Delicate Stomachs look away!!)

I found the hood I wanted. Thanks J Concepts!

Starting the tube work with the hood:

I did a lot of sketching to try to decide how to make this thing look, and I think it'll be cool. Since all the tubing is bolted tot he chassis, it'd be easy to change the whole thing around.

More tube, and the cage front half of the cage unbolted for full welding:

Thanks to Big D for the .035 wall DOM 3/16 tubing! Welds much better than the brakeline, and no harmful coating! Look at the pretty heat coloration:

I decide to reuse the roof frome the J-con body too. Neat scoop, and the rear flows just how I wanted:

The lightweight Lexan interior. Sacrifices must made made for performance, and to fit the Summit Tranny...

Welded in a couple more side window supports. I think it looks cool.

I've got my 8/32 links ready, just need to build the chassis link mounts to get the rear end on. Have to finish up the rear tube work and build shock mounts, not to mention weld in like 20 3mm nuts to hold the lexan panels! Once it stands on its own, the really fun stuff begins! Making it look COOL!

Wow it really cam together fast... one thing i noticed but isnt really a big thing because its strong anyways is maybe a brace for the trans mount on the left side, like i said it wouldnt matter but at least you would never have to worry about it

Ok so I know you said your 11" wide in the front Ryan, but is that hex to hex or outside of tire to outside of tire?

It's about 11.3" or so outside tire to outside tire. SLW's might bring that in a bit...

I might be able to narrow it more, but I still want to to perform well at high speed and on a track, and with these big tires, I need to keep it kinda wide..

Yeah I understand that, what about Bandit arms will they match up and bring it in anymore?
Will the knuckles clearance a SLW or other low profile beadlock ring?

I could try bandit arms, but I'm going to wait and see how it turns out. I wouldnt want it too narrow because of it's tire height. The new Slash 4x4 front carriers will only fit a 2.2 that is flush offset. I had to grind the carriers and not use the inner beadlock ring on the JConcepts wheels or they'd rub. I'm thinking a 1" SLW with 750 hex might be awesome!
