Update!

So I took Hera to the TTC and learned a few things:

1) This is the correct power system. Low end is slow and smooth, 2nd gear is unstoppable. (Assuming your mechanicals dont explode!)
2) The Proline 2.2 Swampers are a better tire than the Rox Lox, but need to be foamed different for heavy rigs, and might present issues mounting the beads to certain wheels. I used firm Jconcepts foam in mine with a Proline memory outer.
3) 72lb braided nylon Sturgeon line sucks as winch line, and will break multiple times ensuring you finish the frame twister in almost last place!
4) Sealed brushless motors are superior to brushed motors in mud and deep, dirty water. No stopping the power!
5) Axial CVD's are good, but Super 300's are necessary when running this much power.

I tied for second, but was the only truck to finish the mud bog and hill climb. I broke both front CVD pins and possibly stripped my ring and pinion during my run through the tank trap. There was a narrow rock section, and I was in second gear and gave it too much throttle when bound. SNAP SNAP! That was it...

Here are some prep pics before the event:

I broke a few Axial plastic housings in my other fast scalers, so in goes a 3 Racing Aluminum housing that's been Anodized black:

Double-balloons, Silica and Expanding sponge make for great waterproofing:

Siliconed the poo out of the Tekin T8 motor to ensure proper submerged performance. No issues!

Here's the winch installed, with Associated RC12 drum WORTHLESS 72lb line. Looks scale though!

Thanks!

Pics from the event:

Frame Twister: (7th place)

Obstacle Course: (2nd place by 3 seconds)

Mini Rubicon: (4th place)

Hill Climb: (1st Place) No pics

Sled Pull: (Second place) Couldnt apply power without wheeling, should have tied off lower...

Mud Pit: (1st place) Rocketed through it, and jumped off the end-mound about 6 feet! Too much fun!

Tank Trap: (5th Place) Broke using too much power in a pinch! Should have stayed in 1st.

Uhh, rear not spinning!

Hmmm, front not spinning, rear is back!

Nothing spinning now! Oh, and the winch line pulled out of the spool...

Great time- big thanks to Tim and his helpers for building awesome courses! Cant wait to rebuild stronger and play more!

Ryan

Thanks folks. Here's all the footage I got from the Mudpit, all shot on the Gopro. Not great, but ok considering it was raining and muddy!

I carry 3 Racing at Tammies, but I think you can order the stuff from their website. We have a customer that anodizes for us. I'm very happy with the housing- good fit and finish.

Ryan,

I've got some questions for you about Hera if you don't mind....

- Were you running stock Axial CVDs with stock pins? I broke the pins in my TTC rig within a couple minutes so I'm running Gunnar pins now in a last ditch effort to save myself the expense of Super 300's. So far so good, but time will tell!

- It appears you ballooned the MMP for the TTC event. Any issues with the fan or overheating?

- How does Hera climb? The reason I ask is because it appears you may not have a lot of weight up front to offset all the rear weight. Was curious if this hindered climbing ability.

- What is Hera's weight?

- It appears your pinion choices are limited when running the Summit trans. Do you know your final ratios for 1st and 2nd gear (not incl. the axles)?

Sorry for all the questions. Fantastic build! Very inspiring....

I'm going to echo Tommy's questions, particularly the one about waterproofing the MMP. I didn't think that was even an option with that ESC because of all the heat it needs to dissipate. My late MMP got quite warm on just 5S and good ventilation.
