Default Courier exo buildup

My first truck got me hooked, but I've really been liking the scale setups, so I jumped on a Courier exo setup from a member in Oregon.

Just repainted the chassis, waiting on a few parts and more spare time to get it up and rolling (that, and cannibalizing my stock-chassis rig.)

I've got a scale kayak around here somewhere that I'm going to have to toss on the roof rack...

Ben, I blame you for this sickness....

A few quick snaps...

Now, to strip the parts I need off the old truck, and do a proper 4 link ;)

looking good!. To me a side shot of a Courier body looks close to a 1st gen toyota pickup, as seen in your bottom pic.

Thanks, I've noticed the same thing; it's one of the reasons I like the body so much, in the absence of other easily available Toyota shells

Nice job with the tube work. It follows the body lines really well.

Yeah, I'm trying to get it together by then, still need to source some parts and the links will probably be half-*** sleeved 4-40 for now ;)

how could you compare a ford to a TOYOTA.

Sure, it's not as nice, but the lines are pretty similar.

This is coming from a guy whose first vehicle was an 84 Toy 4x4 (RIP), so there isn't much I want more than a good Toy body......

On another note, work's been quiet, so I managed to rip apart the old truck and cobble together a crappy 4-link setup (I'm going to have to figure something else out, as it binds up quite a bit, and the links are way too short)

Just need to get some battery straps and I should have it running tonight. I'll do some quick aluminum sleeves to hold me over until a proper rebuild. Pics tonight ;)

It's a Proline Courier shell. I wish I could take credit for the nice exo, but I just got a smoking deal when I bought it that way. All I'm doing is building it back up and adding some more scale touches, but I'm ok with that ;)

Yessir :p

Work was quiet (I love my job ;))

Here we go....

So, let's see.

Custom Brando-style ladder chassis, and exo (can't take credit for it, just pounced on a good deal)
Brando link mounts, links are 4-40 allthread with Tamiya ends sleeved with 3/16th brakeline (these will probably change)
Bed/work rack mounted to bed; I may add some runners to the front like a Rack-It style work rack)
Courier body (duh)
Losi MLST TX/RX (Synthesized FM, tiny RX, seems to run everything fine with no glitching, my TQ3 was glitch city)
Novak Rooser (OG, or something)
Towerpro MG BB hi-torque servo; not a 645MG, but it's cheap and I have a few when I blow 'em up.
Stampede tranny, JB-locked, full BB, 13t/84t
Integy 55T
T-Maxx shocks w/red springs (might try pinks in back, and find something much frimer for up front where the shocks are laid down more)
BB axles, locked using the spider gears
Tobeecraft 32mm wideners, turned down on the drive cups for max steering
HPI Split-5 wheels, single narrowed, Moabs, Casey's rock rings (thanks NorCal2500HD)

I think that's it. Doesn't flex quite as well as Ben's truck, as I get into the front exo a little bit (will work up some shock spacers if it ends up needing it) and it doesn't twist like my stock-chassis truck with a 12.5 WB, but it drives a lot nicer, I'm glad I made the switch to a scale-style rig.

I've got to find the old toy kayaks I've got around in storage somewhere, should finish off the truck nicely.

And, of course, this is yet another build without stupid question posts, as I learned everyting form FAQ's, the search button and reading, reading, reading, then screwing around with stuff till it worked. Thanks for all the feedback over the last few months

Redid the rear lockouts, went to hex stainless hardware on all the links, and swapped to Losi Silvers in front. Seems to do the trick for now.

WB is 11.5, width is 11.25

Dunno if I'll be able to run at the comp at Folsom, but I'll definitely be there with a few runners.

Added some more body details, modded the rock rings for a cleaner look, monkeyed around with the springs again. Need to get some pictures on the rocks, but I end up bashing this thing aorund the office more than outside, lol.

I love this truck; I need to get a new body so it doesn't look as much like RBgerrish's, though (it's a sweet truck, I don't want to cramp his style, though it's obviously what this truck was modeled after).

Any recommendations on color?

Well, I decided to skip the poop green ;)

Double J exceeded my expectations with this new lid, it looks stunning on the truck. And this was one of his "practice" jobs.

Onto the pics!

Next I want to build a rack-it style work rack for it, that looks a bit more scale and sits on the edges of the bed, and I think I'm going back to Moabs on single-narrowed HPI's, as the swampers on doublenarrowed 'pedes sit out too far with my widener setup for a scale look.

Moral of the story is to beat down Double J's door for a body as soon as you can
