| Revisiting my Babyota (loto pics)
It's been a longgg time since I touch on this due to money, work, and just plain time. I finally got fed up looking at my babies collect dust. You can see the oringinal thread here My baby toyota project (ton O pics). I'm scrapping a majority of it due to screwed up geometry. I'm starting out simple. I did my wheels up (narrowed and added weights). frame semi stripped I got my Engle tranny that I've been looking for and started on the build. I never like how the tranny sat so low so I raised it some. Sorry 'bout some of the pics. I need a new camera I'm not sure how much I raised it. I just eyeballed it and try to keep it level. I kept my rear axle truss. I need to get some more link material but I did some swapping links that I've already made and got the rear set up done. I put multiple wholes for anti-squat and pinion adjustment. I'll have to make longer upper links but these are alright for setup. A little play flex I've got a long list of parts to order with some things on the way from Tower now but I want to try and at least stay steady on it this time with no long breaks in between. I have to remove the center chassis brace cause it's in the way of the drive shaft but it'll remain for set up until I figure out the front suspension. Not sure if I'm going with links or leafs yet. I've been looking at ways to do the hinging shackles. If I figure that out I'll run leafs. Hope you enjoyed. Updates soon. |

Very intersting set up with the way you mounted the trans, I guess you dont have to worry about it hanging down any longer What body are you going to be running on this? Keep up the good work. Mike |

I plan on using my bruiser body. Might go with a flatbed or full exo. I gonna get somebody to make it hopefully. I've been asking around about it but I'm not set on it yet.

Why not just put a stadium truck tranny in it? That huge Engle tranny is ugly.

Well I got some more work done tonight. I decided to do an exo/flatbed. I've gotten further than usual cause I usually get fed up after the first couple of boogered bends. I hope to post some pics tomorrow. I've got to a new transceiver, a battery or 2, and a decent charger.

Looks good, Sam. I'd try to do something with that big tranny, though. Quote:

I got some cage work done. Try and fit some work in when I can. The bed's on just to get the front done and then bye bye. But on to the pics. I put some extra bracing in for the stinger. I hope to get some more done tonight but not sure. |

Well I got some work done last night. I got the body almost fully caged, just need a few more bars and I'll start on the flat bed. Hopefully get some work done today and tomorrow since I off. I need to get some flat bars to mount it in up to the frame. Enjoy Last edited by Thundermaxx; 05-04-2007 at 03:57 PM. |

Looks good, I really like the cage so far. What material are you using? From the looks of it, you are soldering it - correct? It should be easy enough to clean up those joints a little, then it would look even better. Nice work |

I got a look at the fit on the frame. Now it's time to get on the bed Topside And bottom I decided to change up the front rail cause it was too close to the body for a more flowing and fender protecting design. OLD NEW It just looks so mean from this view I've got the rear shock mount bent. I just need a plate to go across for the mounting holes. I may add a tire rack but not sure yet. It wasn't in the plans but my J Hawgs look real good in there. Can't believe I'm almost there. Last edited by Thundermaxx; 05-04-2007 at 04:06 PM. | |

Well I got some more done today. I added the radio box and chassis mounts. Also got the rear shock tower up. Debating on a spare tire mount but not sure. I just got the front mount to figure out. I had to break the torch out for the flats cause the iron wasn't putting enough heat into them. Last edited by Thundermaxx; 05-04-2007 at 04:09 PM. |
