| Elite Fabworx "Brutus" 2.2 Ultra4 Build
Well, when "2013 IFS Ultra4 Car "Anthrax" was done, I had been planning on having another chassis built to replace my tired, worn out wraith known as "COCO's Wraith - "EL Diablo" the funds were finally ready, and I gave Kyle and JRad at EFW the green light. I wasn't really sure where I wanted to go with this chassis, I originally wanted to do a Bomber Fab style chassis, but then thought others have made those. My second idea was to go with a Trent Fab buggy. So that was the plan. They got started on the floor pan, and built up another one for another local guy that is getting one as well. We then started collaborating, and Kyle pointed out that if I did indeed want to go with the Trent Fab buggy, it would be better to get the chassis wider. I really didn't want to go much wider as I thought the wraith was pretty wide as it was, and I really wanted to narrow it up. So from then on, we decided to go all custom on this chassis. Just like Anthrax was This chassis was already looking like something totally unique and awesome that no one else has done, after seeing it in person, and throwing some ideas around, I decided that I wanted a raked down hood for that "faster" look |

Still not sure of the direction we wanted to go with the front end of this chassis, we googled "ultra4 Buggy" and came across some of Adam Woodley's work of Wide Open Designs. With the new found direction, they got started. I still wanted to add my own "flare" to this chassis. To go along with the front end, I challenged them to make me some custom front shock hoops. I don't know what it is about spikes, but I love the mean/aggressive look they give to a chassis. It is also something that is not seen everyday. If you look at my other two cars, you can see I got features like this in them as well There was only so much of the W.O.D front end we could go with because of the servo on the axle, but it turned out awesome Last edited by Going Up!; 06-14-2013 at 04:14 PM. |

After getting it painted, I put it all together using DLUX custom titanium links, fully built wraith axles, built wraith trans, all the brushless goodies I pulled from my wraith. I followed that by finishing/detailing up the interior a bit. I shaved down some black Axial bucket seats, and added diamond plate paneling. I am planning on detailing up the interior more, all in time once I add some more scale accessories, and find a way to get my drivers in there. Very tight fit! I also sandblasted, and painted up my Locked Up RC Rock Cutters to match the chassis. I was hesitant at first, as I wasnt sure how it would turn out, but I am liking it a lot. Thanks guys this thing felt great yesterday! Just had a couple electrical problems I need to work out, and an overlooked servo horn Rig felt awesome yesterday! I am hoping some good pics surface of it, and possibly some video. I'll be getting some more info up shortly. The servo does hit, but it really isn't an issue/problem. I am going to throw some fuel tubing on the shock shafts to cushion it so it doesn't have full compression on the servo case. |
