| My IFS Thing...
Well after seeing all the koh/u4 rigs, I seemed to have acquired a half chub for one myself. The plan is to use the slash4x4 front end for a couple of reasons, most notably durability and there are a few spares in my junk pile. Also not to mention the free overdrive gearing and lack of a flat chassis, I wanted to have a little more skid clearance to make another belly dragger. After purchasing a couple plastics to start with, the mockup began The plan was to tie in the 2 major areas that have m4 screws, the rear of the bulkhead and the two arms behind the bulk for durability reasons of course. After looking more at it and the issues of room between the bellcranks, or lack thereof.. decision was made to tie in the bellcranks to the chassis as well. And in order to take care of the petite amount of room between the bellcranks, a regular 6mm revo mip end is just too short. It puts the bell of the mip shaft right at the bellcranks. So a wraith mip hub drilled to 6mm (for the slash4x4 pinion input) seemed to work with an rch of clearance, and maybe a little bit of rubbage but hey it'll clearance itself Kinda hard to see here, the steering linkage clearance. And an attempt to mimic the servo placement of the slash4x4 As for the trans, picked up some SuperShafty goods. I don't really like the idea of a metal spur, but the beefy shaft and better slipper material/thickness compared to stock axial stuff will ease the recent destruction of spurs thats been happening. Old trans... New goods... That's it for now but there's more junk in the mail As for a direction, I don't really know where this will go. Would like to get a tube chassis/truggy style in order to keep the front section of the rails as well, but that'll be left to a professional. |

This looks like it will be pretty neat. Can't wait to see where it goes from here. Nice start. |

I had the same idea using a slash front end and then I got a few crazier ideas running in my head but I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Same direction I'm going with my 2.2 build. The Slash front end should have plenty of steering angle and will fit standard 2.2 beadlocks if you use SLW hubs.

The 225 hubs though aren't enough to clear the chubs, even with the wide jfab hexes. Got some 475 hubs on order and a glorious assortment of hexes to try. Bummer is the drilling out the hex requirement and extra scrub. I experimented on some spare chubs/knuckles with shaving some meat off to fit with my current setup but it took too much material to make it so. | |

Damn. Good to know though! I have a set of VP 225's coming from Carter Fab this week. Guess I cough up a few more bucks. Any idea what the total front track is when assembled?

No idea on width, off the top guess would be 12.5" Here's an old pic that got me thinking of this rig, of course with sc tires/wheels though (pardon the potato quality) : If the width is just too much, still got some ideas to shorten the slash arms. That will force me to make new camber and steering links as well as shorten the front driveshafts, but hey that's part of the game Last edited by Meatwad; 02-10-2014 at 12:36 PM. |

12.5" is maximum for U4RC rules. I bought all the parts for the Slash 4x4 Platinum front end except for the shock tower (have to make a filler plate for the top of the diff), so I hope 12.5 is workable.

Yep indeed 12.5, I was looking at the competitor 13" track width Looks like I need to aim for 12.5 or less

I can make the arms, but the knuckles are the hard part.
